We can't have both the O coordinator and the D coordinator both being first time play-callers. That absolutely should not happen - not under Mario (or anyone for that matter), and not at a University that has the alleged funds to bankroll an elite staff.

I call bs on the Hurtt news.

Exactly. We’ve conceded Prime being some CB guru just because he’s in the hall of fame.

And if we are being honest he wasn’t some fundamentally sound CB either. Was not physical and couldn’t tackle.

He got away with a lot of things because he was athletically superior to most WRs.

Would he be as dominate in today’s league that’s more WR friendly?

People are overreacting with him stealing a couple of recruits.

It’s a house of cards that will collapse if these kids don’t dominate and don’t develop and don’t get drafted high.
U could’ve stopped at the 1st sentence,U ****ted on yourself afterwards

I kinda hope it's bs too, but the timeline fits perfectly with an NFL hire at both OC and DC imho.

Warming up to the idea, as he was an elite recruiter (been a while since he’s had to do it) and highly regarded in the league. It goes without saying, but lack of calling plays on D is the giant elephant in the room

Yep, the self-loathing anti-Miami bias is strong in this thread.

Guy was a monster recruiter and has been an NFL AHC for a few years now. Very well respected in NFL circles. Great energy too. Calling defense is not like calling offense. If he's been groomed by Pete Carroll (he has) that's some pretty good alpha right there. Top of the food chain.

Personally I am staying open-minded and am steadfast in the belief that there is a man in charge of hiring that I can have faith in for the first time in a long, long, time.

Carroll could be out soon, so Hurtt talks (in some capacity) are probably legit, and Clint may be pursuing the DC position - but a fit in a lesser role seems more likely unless Clint finds greener pastures.

Eh, I can ride w Clintt, provided its a Co DC. We will certainly get our share of the top players, thats for sure and hes not going to attempt anything gimmicky. Just hat on hat football.

No matter who the OC or DC is, we need to beef up the analytical brain trust.

Your last point is the most critical one. We finally have a leader that we as a fan base can have faith in

I'm going to be completely honest, him choosing 1st time play callers with an absolutely fat stack of cash to play with, coupled with the alleged names within coaching circles that want to come here...I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be extremely disappointed if this came to fruition.

But, it hasn't happened yet - so this is all speculation until proven otherwise.
