So we are "No. 3, at best" on FSU's list of rivals?

Those idiots from both of those trailerr-park schools in north Florida can say whatever they want to say about UM
not being in their rivalry radar, and they would know that deep down in their little hearts that we are their big brother.
Fact.

For a school that supposedly means nothing to them, I see more comments from their fans and players aimed at that
little school in Coral Gables then at those "rival" schools in South Carolina, Athens, and Knecksville, Tennessee.
So LOL at that nonsense from some of our Cane fans who convinced themselves they we are not their rivals.
You're as dumb as 813_JRock's nephew trying to write his name on an SAT test.

So, I guess VT is our greatest rival based on ^

If a rivalry is defined as two teams' fans hating each other equally, I don't think we really have a traditional rival.

UM doesn't benefit from this "traditional rivalry" nonsense, being a private school.

The only analogue is USC, and UCLA can't slither out of that one because they're in the same damned city.

When we smack them around this year that will change. I can see their wheels falling off soon.

Don't care who they think their rival is. Better for our players to ball like its a rivalry game and theirs to treat it like any other game. We might still be slightly behind in terms of elite depth (our starters are good enough to win a NC) but the extra motivation our players will bring to a rivalry game is what gets us the W against them this year.

I found the UFag guy that called in. Tebow Fan.webp

If a rivalry is defined as two teams' fans hating each other equally, then everybody is our rival.

There, isn't that better?

No, you missed the point. We have several one sided rivalries. Most opposing fans see Miami (FL) as another game on the schedule. The closest thing we had to a real rivalry was Notre Dame in the 80s. There was good hatred on both sides of that one.

I spoke to multiple FSU fans and players, I was pretty much raised in the Tallahassee area grew up a Canes fan, FSU's fans and players have more respect for Miami than they do UF.

No, you missed the point. Everybody hates Miami. They talk like we're the bane of college football, a team of thugs and drug dealers. Every team we play pretends that we're irrelevant, then acts like it's the fricken super bowl if they win. And I, personally, hate every other team on the face of the earth for thinking Miami is morally bankrupt while ignoring the raping and other sht that gets swept under the rug at other schools.

So, by your definition, we have a rivalry with everybody.

Holes-Turds hatred is like the Hatfield-McCoy hillbilly feud: Two squabbling families residing on the same turf and yet no outsider can even distinguish one side from the other.

Canes-Holes and Canes-Turds is founded on something else. It's like hating the guy on the other side of the tracks based on familiar stereotypes and negative perceptions. That animosity ebbs and flows depending on which program has the upper hand.

I've been to probably 10 games in Tallahassee and seen how their fans act when Miami comes to town. If how they act isn't because of a rivalry then I feel really bad for them. They can down play it all they want but they absolutely hate Miami. Unless this whole thing is about asking kids under 25 years old. Ask any older fans and they know what's up.

What's weird is right now we have no real rivals. We haven't won ****, haven't done ****! We haven't been a threat to anyone. In fact, we never really had a rival; ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL WAS OUR RIVAL. Every school. They knew it. Their fans new it. The media knew it. And we didn't care. Those of you too young to really grasp this just don't get it, because if you did, you wouldn't care now. Rivalries? No, Championships!

Oklahoma, Nebraska, Washington, Penn State, Texas, Michigan (Walsh to Irvin)...Canes kicked *** everywhere and most teams refused to play us after a few *** whoopings: Spurrier, Switzer, Paterno, etc. Schools removed us from their schedule.

The only team that recognized how good we were for them and all of college football was FSU. The winner played for the national championship! But we ****ed that rivalry up by hiring Shalala and others.

So let the media and fan bases of other schools talk about how they're out of our league and we're not invited to the party. News flash: we were never invited. We crashed and took over.

I think the biggest thing is that there aren't many Hurricane fans up here. So they are more use to their friends and family being fans of usually UF or FSU, and then throw in a few other teams. You are going to get into more heated arguments with fans of one of those two schools because of the volume of it. So that will cement the rivalry more in their minds.

We haven't been on anybody's radar for about 15 years. But if it makes you feel better to think that everybody hates Miami (FL), go for it.

With the possible exception of Notre Dame in the 80s, there isn't a program in the country that currently views or has ever viewed Miami (FL) as their biggest rival. That doesn't mean that our program wasn't hated/feared/respected. We know that it was all of those things.
