so next year if perry aint the answer what yall gone say?

I would call for the firing of Richt at that point....

Coming from you, this is surprising.

LOL, Im being facetious, for the record. But this is Richt's guy and he is a purported QB guru.....

All true, but the OP did specifically say next year. I'm okay with the kid learning on the job to an extent.

Oh, I dont mean next year he has to be a star. But I want to go with Perry just on the sheer belief he's got a much higher ceiling as a QB than Rosier(who IMO has maxed out) and believe we need to get the process started on improving that position, especially with Williams coming in. Most reasonable fans will understand there will be a learning curve involved

But outside of Perry, the Oline has to be significantly better in the run game and this upcoming class gives the WR unit a much-needed infusion of speed/athleticism,

It's not just on Perry, but I think he is the centerpiece of this evolution that Richt is constructing...

The “we need an OC” thing is overrated. I’m not saying Richt is the premier play caller, he certainly has his issues, but when you call plays where receivers are running open that your QB can’t connect with, no OC will fix that.

Richt absolutely needs more variety in his playbook. Let’s hope the ascent of Perry or Jarren or even if Malik takes a giant leap forward in his play gives Richt the confidence to open things up.

I’m confident that’ll happen no matter who the QB is.

Go Canes!

we'll say relax he's a RS freshman. the interesting thing about next year, is if perry gets hurt, do we burn williams redshirt or go to rosier (if he says)

simply put. were ****ed.

**** meant to upvote.

If the offense sucks next year and the fault is not clearly on a bad OL, then I'll call for an OC. We have 2 legit QBs to choose from. No excuses on that front.

Based on what game evidence? They may be the greatest qbs on earth, but they haven't taken a snap at the college level. We don't know what they are going to be until they get on the field.

We're never going to be good again. Let's just face it. Unless we can steal Saban away from Alabama, it's over.

Am I doing it right?

Based on high rankings. As has been discussed on the recruiting board extensively, a 4 star is more likely to be good than a 3 star.

Interesting observation bc I’m not convinced perry was always “richt’s guy”. Didn’t perry commit to Alf and then decommit when Alf got fired? It wasn’t until richt came on board and he looked at other options did he finally settle on perry. Was it a case of “welp, it’s the best I can get” or did he always have perry as his guy? I know it’s probably splitting hairs but it’s always been curious to me.

I heard Perry was #1 on Richt's overall board. And I heard this after he decommitted. Jon Richt pretty much moved to Ocala to get him back.

Are we gonna run to jarren williams quickly, do we say the offense is too vanilla let me know now

You really think Rosier is as good as it gets?

You're just ****ing dumb if you believe that. Sorry dude

im saying we haven't seen what perry can do and yall think he is a heisman winner already, you know miami is known for having Greentree all americans i just dont wanna hear excuses for perry if he struggles because rosier got no slack when he did.

Whoever the QB is next year will get exactly as much slack as rosier did... because that’s what we give to starting QBs. It’s no different anywhere.

It’s hard for me to invision anyone connecting on less than 50% of their passes. Worst case 10 wins. And even if perry throws some bad interceptions if he can complete 58% of his passes we’ll be smoking teams.

Should Richt not be able to get a lot out of Perry, who was his "reported" number one / biggest priority target in last year's class, then he needs to look in the mirror and realize he needs to find someone to coach the offense. It may take a growing year with Perry, but if he cannot get what he wants out of him by year two, we need a new OC. Two years past that and then he's on the hot seat big time.

I don't think Perry was on Richt's radar until He got the UM job.

From what I've read, Richt wanted to go to a more wide open offense at UGA, while the AD wanted to run a more conventional Pro Style O.

Honestly, I think Brian Schottenheimer ******* e d up UGA QB recruting, there's a story where Fromm was put off by Schottenheimer asking Him if He had any offers...I believe Eason was really His guy, not Richt's. To back up this theory, according to 24/7, Fromm had a UM offer, I'm assuming it was from Richt after He got the UM job.

Tell you what. Having been a Marine Corps Vet and getting blown up on 3 occasions overseas, and having lost friends and Marines, I'm just happy to be home with my wife and be able to watch Canes football. Everything else is gravy. If we win another Natie, great! If we don't, oh well, real life is so much more important than a game. Happy New Year to all the Canes Fam, and lets just enjoy the ride we call life.
