The 5 year recidivism rate in America is over 75%. The justice system works by removing offenders from the general population. Not because they are making the criminals learn from their mistakes. I also am referring to talented/skilled individuals. You will not see billion dollar companies disciplining their top earners. They may discipline the janitor for messing up, but not their top earners.

Again, this is false. Happens all the time. See Nissan in the last few days. Happens in big $ business, including sports, all the time.

Perhaps we're talking about discipline in different ways and my understanding of your point of view is flawed, but your assertions here don't hold much water.

Well, your comment was about discipline, which comes in all forms (not just law & order or overly heavy handed measures)...ultimately discipline is a consequence, it doesn't encompass all consequences, but it does alter behavior. I run a fairly large organization and I can tell you that a well designed system of rewards and punishments is essential. People learn from it all the time...in fact, I would state the opposite of your original point, that if one doesn't learn from disciplinary measures, they aren't really all that grown up.

Consequences are different then your boss handing out discipline. I can only speak for NY, but none of the high earning investment banking, Private equity guys, or hedge fund guys are getting disciplined by their bosses. The low level guys get disciplined, but that is more so they can document it and fire them after a few write ups.

Law and order really doesn't work like that though. Recidivism rates are extremely high. They work in the sense that you are taking these guys off the street, but the vast majority are not learning from their mistakes.

Exactly. A study showed that within five years of being released, more than 75% of released prisoners were rearrested.

Ghosn doesn't prove your point at all. The man was arrested. What I am talking about is lets say Ghosn banged a prostitute or came into work high and someone found out about it. As long as it didn't effect his bottom line. No one would care.

Tried to leave the team two years in a row??? Nah I'm good! Can't take him back! Sends a bad message to this young team!

I see you're new here just like me! May I ask why your meter bar has a lot more red in it though?

If he does want to comeback if I was the coach I'd definitely ask my players if they are onboard with it.If they want I'd also tell him we will help you but you've got show us you aren't going to quit on us either.I'd also tell him your young and a good athlete but not not great you need to work on some things to get you there.and quit listening to people who giving you the wrong advice filling your head with things that aren't in your best interest.
Wouldn't happen this way

Man, we see this differently, and now you're talking about my world. I work closely with investment banks day-in and day-out and, while some of them act the way you think, the well run organizations that have healthy cultures absolutely do discipline high earners when warranted. Sometimes you hear about it, sometimes you don't....sometimes those earners learn well and sometimes they learn how to not get caught next time at another IB. Additionally, organizations go through managerial cycles that alter cultures, so in some cycles an IB can have a great culture that has well designed rewards and punishments and at other times lose their way. Does a high earner get a little more leeway? Sometimes, but not above the rules type of leeway at a healthy organization.

Look, I appreciate your opinion, it's just not that well informed on this topic.
