So JT4 wants back in?

He's a mixed up kid, kids make mistakes I'd take him back if the team wants him back. A two game suspension and a 100% commitment to the team. I don't want to coddle kids but I don't want to throw them in the trash for minor mistakes in life. A few years back I'd say ***** him, what's happening to me? lol

These kids aren't kindergartners. You play the best players that help you win. When you are a grown man you don't learn from getting disciplined.

I disagree with you on this friend. We have law and order in this country because we discipline people when they break the rules. Because most people do not like the idea of being fined or put in jail.

You do learn from getting disciplined. And it prevents others from breaking the rules because the do not wish to go through the consequences.

JJ and Schnelly ruled their teams with an iron fist.

First, this is absolutely false. People learn from consequences all the time. If they don't, they are part of the population subset that won't learn period. Second, I'm not sure we can declare JT4 a grown man just yet.

Law and order really doesn't work like that though. Recidivism rates are extremely high. They work in the sense that you are taking these guys off the street, but the vast majority are not learning from their mistakes.

They learn from consequences. IE. I did this on the job and ended up losing money. So I will stop. However, suspensions and all that BS doesn't help.

Interesting. I have never known someone that learned from being disciplined after middle school.
Sometimes the discipline gives you time to assess what is and is not important in life. If what you say is true we are totally wasting our time trying to rehabilitate people in the criminal justice system. So basically once a (fill in blank) always a (fill in blank)???
We can agree to disagree, GO CANES!!

The punishment need not be playing time. The idea is for him to learn a life lesson about maturity. Maybe he could do a some time at a rehab for children, or veterans, that are physically disabled. Like the old saying "I cried because I had no shoes, and then I saw a man who had no feet".

The 5 year recidivism rate in America is over 75%. The justice system works by removing offenders from the general population. Not because they are making the criminals learn from their mistakes. I also am referring to talented/skilled individuals. You will not see billion dollar companies disciplining their top earners. They may discipline the janitor for messing up, but not their top earners.

You can blame our prison systems for that. In other countries, recidivism rates are not nearly as high. Partly its for the for-profits, partly its because prisons do a nediocre job preparing for re-entry into society.

I ask you Sir, if there were no laws or consequences for breaking laws in this country, how safe would it be just to drive to the grocery store?

You have to have law and order. You have to have discilpine. I think Patton said, "An Army without discipline is just an unruly mob."

That also applies to football teams. Look what happened when Dennis the Menace was here.

Well, your comment was about discipline, which comes in all forms (not just law & order or overly heavy handed measures)...ultimately discipline is a consequence, it doesn't encompass all consequences, but it does alter behavior. I run a fairly large organization and I can tell you that a well designed system of rewards and punishments is essential. People learn from it all the time...in fact, I would state the opposite of your original point, that if one doesn't learn from disciplinary measures, they aren't really all that grown up.

Take him back?
Nothing for JT to learn since there were No consequences..

If he wanted to come back and it was ok with his teammates, I would take him back. No suspension, IMO.

lol. I never said their should be no laws. I just said the prison system isn't fixing people. It is taking the murders and violent offenders and taking them off the street. It is not fixing them.

That is false. Look at Urban, Dabo, Jimbo, Saban. There is no discipline on those teams, yet they dominate. Johnson wasn't as strict as you are making him out to be. He wasn't as lax as Saban and Co, but he wasn't suspending kids for little offenses. These guys were making the newspaper for crimes. Look at Butch. He was always incredibly strict with his players and that is why he never won any NCs, until Coker took one of his teams and let the inmates run the asylum. Coker just sucked at recruiting.

Every billion dollar company disciplines people that are easily replaceable. They are not disciplining the high earners that are not easily replaced.
