So, is Manny right?

The lazy, uninspiring South Florida media - Miami Herald included - is part of the problem. It's easy to jump on the bandwagon and second-guess decisions when the ship is taking on water like the Titanic, but these largely clueless clowns have continually been asleep and reluctant to ask tough questions. Most of their reporting is driven by what they read on boards like this. In most cases, local coverage is softer than our defense.

Wouldn't you like to know the story behind Kiy Hester's transfer? What he and his family say?

Why we were so eager to blow the redshirts off some of the freshmen and then not have them step on the field again?

Why only a Miami produced press release and not a word from Kevin Olsen or his family? What was he doing with Ron Regula's ID?

Why only a press release on Micheal Barrow and no follow up?

What was the story with Hunter Wells?

Granted, UM limits access to players, but last checked they all have parents, family, high school coaches.

He's not right. They fired coker after 60 wins and 2 title games. They fired randy shannon (one of their own) after 4 seasons. Golden will be fired. He's done. However, what they might not care about is spending the money to hire the right person. That's where they are lazy and we may never get out of this cycle. Unless we get lucky.

You see this is where I disagree. They didn't want Shannon in 2007. They want Schiano who was coming off an 11-win season at Rutgers. They paid Shannon pretty much the going rate for promoting a coordinator. Swinney got $800K when Bowden resigned at Clemson. Shannon got roughly the same amount. Golden's salary in 2010 was commensurate for his background, which was in the $2 million range.

Just depends on their route this time. Do they make a play and pull and NFL assistant like Winston Moss. Do they pull a former assistant like Mark Stoops and pay in the $3 million range? Or do they go after Davis or Schiano? I think they go after a Miami guy and one who is defensive minded.

Darn good post!

Basketball is less expensive and provides the same exposure!!!
There is an on campus facility and it provides students with an on campus experience.
It's business not personal.

We are becoming a basketball school!!

Many fans have been saying this for years on these message boards. Finally, someone in the media has said it. The Troll is the main reason we are in the mess we are in. Hiring lame duck coaches and lame duck ADs, did not fight for the OB and signed a ridiculous lease in No Life stadium.

If Golden finishes 7-5 or worse (how could he not at this point) and he isn't fired, Manny is right. They really don't care about fielding a competitive program anymore.

Just graduate players, keep them out of trouble -- Golden can't even do that -- and collect our slice of the ACC pie. Winning isn't important anymore if he's kept on.

Been saying this for a while. Joining the ACC made it so we don't need to field a good team to make money. The nerds finally won out.

I don't know if it's true, but I'm glad he published it. More pressure on UM in public is the best thing for UM fans.

Don't forget that UM is a blatantly racist institution if it continues to employ this white loser, who embarrassed the university by disappearing and begging ped state to hire him, after it fired a black man, who was a local hero and UM man and who put a better product on the field.

Shannon didn't make it through year 4. Why should the white man who is fielding an inferior product?

Where is Al Sharpton? Can't Luke get him down here stat?!

Check with former Cane Darryl Sharpton. I think he's with the Bears now. Al is his cousin or uncle or some sort of relative.

They should buy tarps that are painted to look like people are in the seats.
Tupac hologram. Put Tupac in every seat.

UM can give out a free ticket and free arepa to all the chin straps who show up. They can promote the free ticket and free arepa and Tupac hologram as the Tupac Two-Pack.

Imagine being a beat writer for a team who reinvented college football now they suck for the last 12 years!

I'd be frustrated too!

IDK about ya'll, but I might find another "thing" to fill this space in my heart. I give the administration this off-season as proof he is ill-fitted to accomplish success on the field here. If no changes are made, **** it. Still kinda have B-ball and baseball, and we will become a fan base that gets a solid 10 win season every 6 years, maybe. We will be waxed poetically about on ESPN Classic, referred to as "sleeping giant", and fall forever into the abyss of mediocrity that we linger over as I type.

Maybe I'll get into wood-working or being a good parent. PTA and all that ****....Or I can build cars. That might be fun.

Either way...Seems like change is never going to come and the facts show we had an epic championship run in spite of the support from the administration here. I don't think the way college football has changed, that we can ever do it again.

**** everything I love the U. Needed to vent.

This. During the past couple of days I've seriously considered just hanging up my Canes fan hat and doing something else with my free time. It's not going to be easy but I would probably be a much happier person for it. Canes, I wish I could quit you. lol

Probably. Here's hoping the new prez gives a **** about football...

Most likely not, nobody at Miami wants the old Miami back, nobody wants the renegade, the bad boy. It hurts our image(and therefore the bottom line, in this PC pussitized world thats all that matters). they want to use #swagger to make revenue but thats as close as they want to get to the old Miami. Our image, or i should say our gimmick, is a facade. they've made the U into what every corporation does, branded a safe, surefire product with meaningless attachment to something consumers think they relate with but is actually a worthless product.

The stats support what Manny said. I guess I'm supporting a team that is destined to be in line with the other Florida schools, not named FSU or Gayters. At some point I gotta just start liking to see good match ups of other serious institutions. Nobody at the U cares....SAD.
