bring in Alvarez, and the players shut that down by "demanding" Coker coach, just to keep Alvarez from ******** up the team.

Maybe she's still ****ed at the football program?

And didn't Wisconsin's football program really pick up after Donna left UW?

Sounds like Shalala is a program destroyer. And she's in charge?

In hindsight now, it would have been better for Alvarez here. Alvarez did well at Wisky
 
It's too bad she caved to the players, Alvarez had just won back to back Rose Bowls and had Wisconsin finish in the Top 5 in consecutive seasons. Dude would have killed it with the talent he was handed.

No thanks. I've had enough of Big Ten coaches and their mentality. Alvarez did ok but what have they won? He was Golden before Golden which is why he would have been a perfect fit there.

When the Miami job came open Alvarez had won 3 Rose Bowls and had 3 teams finish in the top 5.

That's not exactly Al Golden's resume from Temple.
 
Good ol' Barry is the only man ever to give the little troll a tingle up her thigh. I hear she personally reimbursed him for the money he lost to Shapiro out of of the recruiting budget. Okay, I made that last one up but I want to believe it.

That said, it's sad that had she hired Alvarez we probably still would have had no worse results than having gone with Clappy. I doubt the players would have followed through with any threats. He'd probably be AD today and at least we'd have a real one. Not saying it'd have been a good choice but can't really see anything being worse than the route we went.
 
maybe thats why UM didnt give butch the extension he wanted. so they could bring in alvarez
 
Have not seen the movie, but timeline does not seem to make sense. Coker was promoted on 2/3/2001 and Shalala was hired on 6/1/2001.

i just realized that too. yet all the players were saying they heard alvarez was hired to come in. weird

Shalala was the president elect and approved the hire. She signed off on the deal.

Wisconsin has been on the rise since she left, Miami's been on the decline since she arrived...coincidence
