So Butch isn't a good gameday coach

That's absolutely true. But how many of them would have come here readily and cheaply. He was begging to have another chance here. No extensive research or ton of money needed. But our genius administration wasted the opportunity.

always respect you Bro ... but we totally disagree.. right now Miami is where Miami was in the late 1970s.. this program barely has a pulse, and if Howard had not come to coach the Canes, the program would have died... Howard had what Butch has and those skills are far beyond just being a "good coach". there are only a handful of coaches today that have the skill to BUILD A PROGRAM. Butch is one of those guys and Miami needs more than a "good coach" at this point. .

Not only that, but he badly wanted another chance to be here and make up for the worst coaching mistake he ever done in his life (his words) which was leaving Miami for the Cleveland Browns. And he would have come here without breaking the bank.

Butch sat there and waited till we shot ourselves in the foot repeatedly. We're playing the 112th team against the run and we're lining up out of the shot gun on 4th and 1 and running play action after pounding it down their throat. We line up with two tight ends to one side and throw to the other side. Our incompetent play calling cost us the game.

On national TV Butch openly said he wanted the Canes job and would ask for only 1 million and would bring a world class coaching staff to Coral Gables .... no doubt he would have done exactly that.
 
Butch was never even mentioned as a Miami coaching candidate until 2015. At that point he was pretty old.

I respect you as well man, I just think there's a clear cut difference in the top programs in college football & none of them are hiring a Butch Davis type, that's not to take a shot at him, but that's just the reality. Please don't take it as disrespect to your guy, I'm not trying to walk into the hornets nest of arguing with an ardent Butch supporter lol.

There's lots of good coaches available, you believe that Butch is the guy we should hire right now, I'd rather go with a younger Offensive minded guy, but we can agree to disagree on that.

One thing we both agree on, is Diaz is basura & needs to go.

because he is an old coach on the verge of retirement that isn´t quite good himself on gameday. If you actually look at what FIU was doing they had a **** ton of mistakes that you would attribute to coaching. End of half clock management when he didn´t know that clock would run on the ready for play after a penalty enforcement. Kicker bailed him out while he ate his last timeout while the clock ran. We have scene the film of them leaving a uncovered receiver on the goaline and letting the snap go off only to be outdone by our corches. Lets not forget the 4 flopping players.

Don't get the hate either but by the same token I don't get the idolation, especially now. It's been like 19 years since he coached here. He's moved on as I have. He showed how classless and liar he is last night. There's a reason no one has touched him since he was fired from UNC and why he's coaching at a commuter college where he will likely retire.

Butch is loyal to friends and he was asked by Pete Garcia to come to FIU. He paid a heavy price for being scapegoated at NC for bull**** he was repeatedly and completely exonerated for.

there is no "idolation" (i think you meant idolatry) its a FACT that Butch has always been light years better than the series of ****shows that corched the Canes over the last 15 years .... last night is Exhibit A.

That's true which speaks more to the sad state of our program than the coaching prowess of Paul Hilton Davis. And I would feel the same way regardless who was coaching at the commuter college.

But for some of you guys you're hiding your glee over this loss because of this guy who coached UM over 19 years ago. I was a UM fan long before Davis. I did not become a fan because of him.
