SMU planning to "Stripe Out" its stadium for the Miami game this weekend

Wow. Can the proceeds go to Canes Connection? If we had enough of a contingency, I would probably allow my face to be incorporated into the CIS Doosh logo.

Maybe we can consult those Notre Dame D-bags from Catholics vs Convicts who did their T-shirts...then do the exact opposite. (Here comes a sidebar....) I gotta tell you, watching that stupid effing documentary and seeing those two guys trying to portray themselves as some sort of criminal masterminds for selling non-licensed t-shirts at a football game was some of the cheesiest meets cringiest things I've ver seen on tv. Phew, ok, got that outta my system.

Great idea. And I literally lol'ed when I read it.

Go Canes!
Donating the proceeds to Canes Connection would be the honorable thing to do. Might not make a dent in the NIL bucket but it’s the thought that counts.

HeII with my ugly mug on there, I doubt we would sell more than half a dozen and they would all be purchased by people I pizsed off on this board to use as targets at the range. I'm still giggling at the thought of seeing someone wearing a shirt like that at a game.

Take note why exactly? Where you putting a stadium the size of SMU’s on Miami’s campus?
I have no idea the engineering and logistics of everything but there is that open piece of land north of Mahoney Pearson that has just been sitting there for decades. I know there's a building west of that but I always had it in my mind that that would be the perfect spot for an on campus stadium if they could figure out all of the logistics.

let it go GIF

Like I said, look at how SMU stadium looks when you get to Dallas and take notes.

Also, Highland Park Dallas is more affluent than Coral Gables.

Any roadblocks we have, they also have
There is 48,000 people who live in Cora Gables and 8,000 people live in Highland Park. You're either being dumb or have never driven in Coral Gables and near the UM campus. It would be one gigantic cluster F#@$. The city would never vote for it. How do fans not understand this.

I hate having to drive into Gables or the Grove.... Thankfully it's not often that I do .... Everything about it from just getting there to actually being there and then leaving to go home.... Don't get me wrong ,it is beautiful, I will never knock that at all it's just chaos for me....
Heck I live in Sunny Isles and it's turned into chaos central here as well, not as bad as down in the Gables but it's congested nonetheless....

I've lived in both. Highland Park is in the dead center of the Dallas metro - it's more packed than Coral Gables. There's LESS space in that part of Dallas than that part of Miami.

Highland Park residents are even more snobbish than Coral Gables residents. And SMU has even less local support as most residents went to school elsewhere and most Dallas residents support Texas, OU, etc.

The only difference is WILL and DESIRE to build an on-campus stadium by the university. Miami CHOOSES to play at Hard Knocks stadium because they WANT to play there.

My undies are also striped. Just brown in the back.

I’ll be in Section 109 a couple rows off the field. I’ll be wearing a dark Miami hoodie. Stop and say hello. I’ll probably buy you a beer if they sell them inside the stadium. Unless you’re one of the dooshes on this forum. 😎
Yes they sell beer in the stadium. They tried to hold out but the students used to leave at half time to get more drinks and party on the Boulevard instead of watching the game. So they finally gave in a couple of years back

Also recommended are the Mambo Taxi margaritas at the Mi Cocina station. VERY STRONG

Wrong. UM could want to build it but the Gables residents will NEVER let it happen. Also UM knows the majority of their season ticket holders live in Broward / WPB.

If Highland Park residents let SMU build a stadium, Coral Gables residents would let UM. There were also very good ideas about tearing down a high school across the street and building it there which were floated a couple years back by serious people.

Miami CHOOSES to play at Hard ****, for reasons.

Anyone going to Dallas for the SMU game will see for themsleves exactly what I'm talking about.

SMU stadium is awesome and proof that a city school can have an on campus stadium.

Miami fans take note when you’re visiting Dallas
I know where SMU is. I know where the stadium is. Just FYI the city of Coral Gables government isn’t there. I ******* hate posts like this as if things are done in a vacuum.

100% these people who say **** like this don’t even understand that this arena we have on campus has empty space at the top because we couldn’t put in all the rows that were planned because the city wouldn’t approve it but then they want a 30,40 or 50,000 seat stadium on campus when we weren’t even allowed to fill in a couple extra hundred seats at the top of the basketball arena

A universtity worth billions of dollars could EASILY get this done if they wanted to. They don't want to.

You sir have earned yourself a free beer from me. If you're going to be at the game, shoot me a DM and I'll meet up with you to present you with said beer. I expect absolutely nothing back in return other than a Go Canes! If you're not going to be there, you get nothing. At least not at this game.

Imagine typing this out and believing it is real. Wild times.
