SJ Alofaituli- season stats, other interesting stats. Mensah is saving the line

Fun fact- in professional hockey, teams are allowed to ask fans in attendance to suit up in case of an emergency. It’s happened in recent years - in 2018 the Blackhawks lost both goalies due to injuries. a 36 yr old accountant named scott foster was in the press box and was given a one day contract, he suited up immediately and made 7 saves. In 2020 a Zamboni driver named David Ayres was asked by the Carolina Hurricanes to fill in during a game. He actually helped win them

I bring this up because I think if cfb had a similar rule , Miami could probably find a student in the student section to fill in for SJ and there wouldn’t be a noticeable drop off.

Obviously yes not counting 22. There was pretty much 0 shot this line was going to be as good our better than 24 and 25 so that comparison doesn't really make sense. 4 new starters on the line and we still may shuffle this is going to be a work in progress all year with the hope they gel at some point. We'll probably see a lot more 21 personnel to help with the blitzes. Tho it'll be harder without Marty.

yup the decision to skip the portal on the offensive line is something they will regret until January. (we hope)

I have no clue what Mario is doing with this guy. He's getting the benefit of the doubt from us but the choices he made this off-season and him rolling with Ryan Rodriguez and SJ just make absolutely zero sense. Either Jackson Cantwell is straight *** or hes not smart enough to understand the playbook right now. If he cannot beat out a 2nd year SJ talent wise we have a real issue right now and totally whiffed. It didn't even need to be like this but for some strange reason he decided not sign any starting OL in the portal when he had to replace 4 guys.
 
I’m really hoping the staff makes a change because if they don’t and he’s the answer there all season… yikes

The play was designed for Fletch to continue outside, but he was knocked off track because of RR getting his *** whooped. SJ was in perfect position to seal that LB had Fletch stayed outside like the play was intended. Obviously SJ didn’t know RR had just got put on skates and Fletch was forced inside, but the LB did. He immediately had leverage because of that and was able to undercut it and make the play.

Did SJ miss the block? Yeah, but it was a pretty tough block to make after the play was blown up in the first 2 seconds and he had no idea. Plenty of other worthy examples to rag on SJ. I just don’t think this is one. JMO.
