Im using a PTO day to enjoy national signing day.

It appears our best bet prime targets are:
1. A kid with a giant tattoo of "Georgia Bulldogs" on both arms whose coach we ignored for months while he begged for attention
2. A kid who drove 4 hours on a Saturday to hang with "my position coach" in Gainesville and left Al hanging with his family @ the crib most of the night.
3. The son of a man who publicly criticized our staff to local media as recently as a year ago and who was not offered until January despite being arguably the best HS football player in SoFla.
4. A 6'7" 4-3 DE who allegedly has grade issues
I'm hoping/praying for Treon and not expecting anything else.

I think it's the most overrated day of the year. The vast majority is known ahead of time, unlike the NFL draft with dominos falling everywhere. Among the handful of truly undecideds not many involve the Canes and not many of those go our way, although the Stacy Coley example was a rare positive last year. I still remember the somewhat stunned expression from Jimbo Fisher when Jeannine Edwards was interviewing him for ESPN.
The family dispute between Alabama and Auburn a few years ago was also good theater. Otherwise it's hour after hour of dull.
The signing day party is good other than it's ridiculously controlled and overly reserved. You invariably get the fluff and not the pointed questions that need to be asked. For example, nobody is going to stand up and address the topic of repeated failure at defensive tackle. That's common knowledge on sites like this but for some reason nobody will say it to Golden when he's standing on that stage. A couple of years ago somebody attempted to ask a question with even a modest critical tone and the crowd booed him out. I guess there's an understanding that you won't get a straight answer anyway. For example, Golden will merely rave about Moten and ask if anybody just saw the highlight tape on the big screen? So how can anybody claim we don't have defensive tackles?

Don't get downplaying it. Lot of big time, mega stud players make their decisions on this day. We just don't appear to have a great shot at many this year besides maybe Treon and JC.

I counted 29 without a commitment listed on ESPN's top 300. 13 In the top 100. 7 in the top 50.
Would be interesting to track month over month the commitments of the top 300 since May and how much fluctuation there really is.
