Umm...
I saw several scrimmages and 3+ years of Manny Diaz defense.

I don't know why you guys think a philosophical change will occur once the real season starts.

You can't do that in scrimmages, AND they don't blow these plays dead very aggressively in scrimmages when the QB would have otherwise been hit and sacked. Freaking out about scrimmages is just plain dumb. The only thing that matters about scrimmages is that we come out with no injuries. That's it and that's all.

Truthfully we don't even play any formidable offensive opponents.
The same Louisville team that anally raped our defense got their **** pushed in by Pitt the following week.

Do we ever run a different D in 1s vs 1s? It doesn’t event have to be a different D as much as something we hardly ever show like press man.

I guess we will find out once season starts. Wasn't it Singletary who said something like wait until CFP sees the new stuff on D Miami is rolling out? We will be able to tell relatively quickly.

Louisville had a whopping 6 points at halftime and we emptied the bench when it got out of hand.

THIRTY different guys had tackles in that game, including walk ons

Hey watch the Tannehill slander haha. Dude was a solid QB at Miami in a bad situation, goes to Tennessee, and has been one of the better QBs in the league the past few seasons.

Thrown for over 5,500 yards with 55 TD's to 13 INT's QB rating around 111. 18-8 as a starter. Also throw in 451 yards rushing with 11 Rushing TD's.
 
So.....any updates? Lashlee seems to really like the freshmen receivers and said he's going to run them against the #1 defense to see if they're ready to contribute right away this year. I thought that was very encouraging.

A philosophy is a philosophy. That doesn't change when the real season starts. It also doesn't change versus different opponents.

If you're a spot-drop zone guy, you're a spot-drop zone guy. You don't become a pattern-match zone guy versus SOME opponents.

The defensive philosophy we see in team scrimmages is the same philosophy we'll see on Saturdays. The overall play calls will differ by opponent but the overall philosophy is the same.

Manny's zone techniques have ALWAYS had massive holes in them with defenders covering grass and not receivers.

Yall act like these scrimmage stats are isolated incidents.
Any opponents we've faced that is content with nickel-and-diming us, has had success. It's only when we call more 'man' coverage that we slow them down. And we haven't even faced any offensive juggernauts. We've seen this **** versus D1AA teams but yall on here acting like this concern is blasphemous.

He's definitely the type who plays faster than he tests. I saw these times very pedestrian 40 times and I couldn't believe it. He was always the fastest guy on the field when they were in pads. He had big games against St. Thomas and Miramar so it's not like he was just lighting up the bad teams either.

Exactly. The QB has the benefit of a red jersey. No live bullets during 95% of scrimmages and practices is a HUGE advantage for the QB. This whole topic is crazy to me.

It’s not an excuse it’s a fact. We were up three touchdowns midway through the 4th quarter (40-20) and scoring at will. We emptied the bench. It wasn’t raping it was a chance to get young guys and walk ons in.
