Not a fan of Deion but what he says in this interview actually makes sense and sounds genuine.

Great interview, but I did not hear Prime specifically asked about Barstool Sports reportedly paying Travis Hunter $1M and if true, did this influence Hunter's decision to attended JSU. NIL was brought up near the end, but I only heard Prime calling NIL 'a new name for the bag', and now that it's legal everyone can do it. He did make an interesting point stating he hasn't seen any name, image or likeness. Only people pooling money to pay out.

He seems to think the notion that Hunter choosing JSU for an NIL deal is disrespectful.

I'll take an L if Barstool Sports was discussed during the interview and I missed it.

Fück yeah, Patriot Act TAMU!

At some point, those fanbases will accuse Jimbo/Saban of Kennedy assassination.

Just post this picture on their 247 boards.

I would say this.

If done right, NIL is strictly a deal between an athlete and a company. A coach should not know, and should not be privy to any discussions.

Having said that, both Hunter and Barstool have denied that "a million dollars" was paid or will be paid. And since it is legal now, I don't think there is any real reason to lie. Hunter has to file a tax return soon, same with Barstool (for them to take a deduction for any amounts paid). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have yet to see any legitimate legal NIL deal "denied" publicly.

And who knows, maybe in the heat of discussions, Portnoy could have blurted out "man, Travis, you are going to make a million dollars". But if a contract for that amount was negotiated and signed, I see no reason for either party to deny its existence.

You are my Dude, but please remember you are talking to a Bama fan. One cannot simply use words like egregious and duplicitous and expect them to even remotely understand your point you so eloquently made. Moving forward, please stick to the the following words.............................
cat, dog, and, the, butt, sister, cousin
☝️GOD DAMNIT ZOMBIE.

I just spit my Coke all over my mobile reading this.

Are you happy now!¡???

Fair enough. Maybe the NIL deal that size was no more than an internet rumor, and if there was a deal the amount over-inflated.

I'll consider this a lower-case 'l' on my part.....

That George Wallace?
Yes.

12 June 1963: George Wallace, Governor of Alabama, faces General Henry Graham at the University of Alabama after he refused to enroll two African-American students, Vivian Malone and James Hood. In response, President Kennedy federalized the Alabama National Guard, and one hundred guardsman escorted the students to campus.

All good, sir.

I think it is striking...and in keeping with the new era of NIL...that it was really just a RUMOR about the Barstool Sports deal that got converted into "accepted fact". And who knows, maybe the truth falls somewhere between "the rumor" of a million dollars and "the denial" of a million dollars.

I keep circling back to this, but here it is. Saban had NO PROOF. NO FACTS. He just repeated a rumor, and then acted like you could read about it "in the papers". I mean, at least Saban accurately cited the number for the Nijel Pack contract, even though he lied about multiple Miami players getting the same deal.

But the comments about Jackson State paying Hunter? That was just some crazy old man bullcrap, and a dog whistle to his boosters. Saban really needs to apologize for GETTING THE FACTS WRONG, not just for "singling out" certain schools and coaches and players. It's not just that he "offended" people, it's much worse that he did it with false and/or unprovable statements.

Even claiming a school 'signed' a player(s) is incorrect, technicality. The NIL deal is not with the school, the deal is with a third-party.

Collectives may not be legally part of the university, but if they are brokering and signing players defacto on the behalf of the school its not a stretch to claim the school signed those players. I don't care if the NIL deals does not contain language identifying a school. Show me a collective acting as an agency with players NIL deals attending multiple schools.

We all dislike Saban, and the GOAT hypocrisy of him to complain about anyone paying players. Nitpick his language, but is he wrong? Did not a unusual number of 5* players sign large NIL deals and LOIs to attend TAMU? Is the $20-30M total amount we read about fiction? Many of us assume Shermar Stewart signed with TAMU base on an NIL deal.

We're not working a case in a court of law.

In reverse.

We may not be "working a case in a court of law", but the stuff that Saban said was defamatory. It just was. Now, will Jimbo and Coach Neon sue Saban? Unlikely, BUT THEY SHOULD. Which is exactly why Saban backed off and started his apology tour.

"Nitpick his language"? It's not nitpicking to point out that EVERYTHING he said for two minutes was wrong. It's nitpicking if I criticized him for ONE mistake in the middle of 99 correct things. And if Saban had said something NOT false, like "hey, Alabama boosters, did you think it was weird that so many 5-stars signed with Texas 8 & 4?", then it wouldn't have been a problem. But that's not what Saban did. He stated false things AS A FACT. He falsely claimed that there were newspaper articles that substantiated his false claims.

"Collectives"? Saban cited three schools by name. Only one (Texas A&M) utilizes a collective. Nobody has ever alleged that Barstool Sports or LifeWallet are collectives. And don't give me "de facto". Words matter here. Saban might want to retroactively claim that this was all about collectives, but his WORDS said that schools made direct payments. Saban's WORDS accused two (out of three cited) schools that are not even using collectives.

So, to sum up, Saban's words were bullsh!te LIES. And your defense of what Saban said is misguided. I'm sorry if you take that personally, but it's the truth. Don't try to use "Saban was TECHNICALLY correct". No. No, he was not.

If Saban wants to criticize collectives, STICK TO COLLECTIVES. Attack schools like UiF and UGa and Tennessee and LSU that use collectives. Not Miami and Jackson State, which do NOT use collectives.
