Should we move James Williams to LB?

there's no need to tie him to a position in the modern game, especially in the nfl. look at the elite safeties like kevin byard, derwin james, etc. they play all over the field. as a titans fan i'm especially familiar with byard- he mans up with tight ends, he plays deep center field, he plays in the box. if you've got a guy who can do it all, let him do it all. it gives you an immense amount of flexibility with the rest of your defensive scheme. who cares what position he's "officially" at?

He's got the frame to fill out, I get he plays LB some but why not move him there permanently? I think his future in the NFL is at LB not safety. Just think about how you can use him as a blitzer and covering TEs.

Annnnnnd, now we are reminded why Mackbammer is one of the worst porsters of speculation and football "analysis" on this board...

Im thinking about using him like Clemson did Isiah Simmons, that's who James Williams reminds me of the most. Get James up to 240ish and let him play ILB and Safety. We would be able to do all kinds of different things with him.

Do you watch? They literally played him all over. Played Free, in the box as a backer in sub packages and as a blitzer.

We’re gonna blitz him and match him up with TEs regardless. He did as much on Saturday. At one point, he was lined up 1 on 1 with their big, athletic TE who was split out wide. Might as well not worry about Williams’ position. He’ll be used all over in subpackages, it seems. Curious to see him in Robber coverages.

Was thinking he'd be a good match up for that 6'7" wr FSU has from Arizona.

Was the TD allowed against Bethune the fault of James Williams?

Yeah but most of the time he was out deep as a safety. I'm talking about moving him to primarily LB that can play some safety in special packages. Not a safety who plays some LB in special packages.

Don’t think he possesses the physicality to be an every down LB personally. He is a chess piece, simple as that. I don’t like his effort and lack of urgency out there sometimes though. It’s noticeable and he could definitely turn it up a notch IMO. I’m sure the staff sees this as well and is on him about it so not worried about it long term though. He is one of the most talented guys on the roster but I feel like there’s much more we could get out of him. JMO.

He needs to add some size. If he puts on 20-25LBs and hits the weight room his physicality will improve. It's probably to late to make the switch now but the staff should definitely consider it going into 2023 and give him an entire off-season to develop.

Please motherfvcking stop repeating yourself. This is what you do in every thread where you bloviate your worst ideas.

You seem to think that people don't understand what you are saying (and fail to notice that we believe your ideas and analysis are horrible), so you repeat your inane concepts over and over and over again, as if this will eventually win us over to your viewpoints.

Please stop. Just because a guy is tall and skinny doesn't mean you should pack weight on him and then move him to a position he's never played.

It's not just this thread. You consistently post horrendous football analysis. Maybe you should try something different. Would you consider making all your posts as a character pretending to be ***? NYSOM seems to have disappeared, so there's a hole to fill...
