Should any of our WR move to corner?

We’ve got some excellent talent at WR. We are also very deep at WR. However, we’ve had some guys who are very athletic but seem to struggle catching the ball. Wiggins and Harley come to mind. Both of these guys are physical blockers so scrapping it up doesn’t seem an issue. Not sure about their hips. Would it be a bad idea to give these guys looks at corner?

If there was one, Dee Wiggins has the frame. Honestly reminded me of Herb Waters. Long and wiry.

I think it would good to explore. We got some hella young bucks in the secondary and it would be wise on both fronts to simply cross-train somebody. I feel like we're an injury away in the secondary from being in panic mode.

Njoku could tower over hoe size receivers 👍🏼

Harley... ? Humm… Weight?

Lmao @ moving Wiggins or Harley to CB...

Neither one of them have ever played DB even in HS for 7v7 ball, but move them to CB in college while they've already spent all their training & reps at WR.

Smh lol, gotta love this board.

I agree with you but the op
Does have a good point, the most important skill for a wr is to catch the ball, something that seems to be a skill neither of them possess so it wouldn’t be to bad putting them in a position where catching isn’t the number one required skill

I think Sam Shields played WR all through HS and 3 years of college. Switched to CB his senior year. It might be challenging, but it's not unprecedented. That being said, I don't know if either Wiggins or Harley are the best candidates though to switch sides. If we are throwing names out, how about Robert Burns, there is only about a 1% chance he will contribute anyways. Since he is made of glass, maybe CB would be easier on his body than RB.

That's assuming moving them to a position they've never played before would make them a better player, which I can assure it wouldn't.

And Wiggins is only a Sophomore, it's crazy premature to even mention moving him to another position when he hasn't even fully maturated yet as a WR.

Neither of them know the proper technique, footwork or natural instincts to play CB, but yeah let's throw them out there on the island at CB because it's not like they would struggle trying to cover other ACC caliber WR's.

We haven't played a single snap in the season yet, maybe you guys are overreacting...

Those would be the worse ones to even consider moving to a db position. Just based on what they’ve done in highschool the 3 obvious choices would be Jeff Thomas at cb who was a beast as a cb in highschool but we know how special he is at cb. Mark pope may have the frame to do it at 6’1 185-190 or so and Jeremiah Payton played safety and was pretty good at it last year in highschool. But all 3 of those guys got special gifts with the ball in their hand so no, they need to be on offense lol

I agree.

Move Robert Burns to LB
Michael Irvin Jr to DE
N'Kosi Perry to CB
Bobby Knowles to LT
Zach Dykstra to FS

You’re talking about high school ball? But hey, LCL, I did some research for you. There are two former Canes on the list that you forgot: https://m.sportsbreak.com/nfl/the-15-best-nfl-players-who-switched-positions/

YA CLOWN!

Generally no, but wouldn't it be great if you could teach an Njoku or someone of that size how to defend a fade in a critical spot?
