SHOCKER!!! The Big Ten is going to cave.

CYA spin is in full effect.

From that article:

Moreover, while Sebastianelli said he is concerned about the long-term impact, he also noted that many other specialists, including some at the Mayo Clinic, aren’t.
“[They] feel this is a finding that is incidental and may not warrant any further investigation or concern,” Sebastianelli said. “And they’ll let somebody compete again in 30 days or more of their viral infection, [if it] has cleared and their heart has displayed normal activity based on their level of competition.”
He further acknowledged that any virus, such as influenza, can cause inflammations in the body, including around the heart. However, he said he wasn’t aware of any major study of how the flu compares to COVID. He figures one will be conducted this winter.

So basically, a clown face family practioner from Penn State has no fūcking clue what he’s talking about... And actually contradicts respected physicians, like from oh you know shltty institutions like the Mayo Clinic.

I mean people here call out all the wacko conspiracy theorists, but I’m not seeing too much indignation over this

Least surprising news of the day. Penn State, a school known for protecting child rapists, was lying about myocarditis:

Flat out lying. That guy was just promoting an agenda. Literally one nanosecond after I read it I knew it was bullshlt. When I read the article, it just confirmed that it was all made up.

Are you suggesting that it's unlikely that college athletes, at a young age and in peak physical condition, aren't suffering from a rare side effect of viral infections at a rate not seen in the general population, not even the elderly and infirmed? How dare you deny science.
Science has let humans down so many times it's incredible. The whole idea of second opinions and malpractice proves it.

A “re-vote” is scheduled for tomorrow on an October 10th start date, according to some reporters on Twitter.

It’s apparently being kept so hush hush because people on the inside are sick of the way some of the CFB reporters have gone about the process.

Word is Kevin Warren hired a "crisis PR team" to handle all communication with national media. Yesterday's absolute sh*t show of social media posts, etc. seemed to drive that decision.

The expectation is the Presidents and Chancellors of Big Ten schools WILL hold some kind of 'vote' either Friday or Saturday. There is a scheduled Conference call between Presidents/Chancellors already scheduled for Friday so it is unknown if a vote will occur then or take place in a separate call on Saturday. It is being speculated that the vote will include the ability for a school to "opt out" of playing, regardless of how they vote. The vote could be 6 to 10 teams will opt in to play and 4 to 8 teams will opt out. Those who may "opt out" would include Maryland, Rutgers, Michigan State, Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern . Those who likely decide to play include OSU, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan.
It is believed that behind the scenes there has been pressure on all Presidents to vote in favor of playing , thus getting a unanimous vote. The "out" for those who don't want to play is the "opt out" loophole.

The schedule could end up being a 10 game conference only schedule if the number of opt-out schools are on the lower end. Otherwise a schedule with a home-away series with schools could be crafted.

It sounds like there is a strong belief that IF the Big Ten votes to begin fall sports, especially football, immediately - October 10th is the date being thrown around- the lawsuit initiated against the Big Ten by the Nebraska football players will be dropped. Warren and the Presidents/Chancellors do NOT want to continue forward with the latest court ordered discovery and the possibility of perjury unveiled due to the signed affidavit of a previous "vote".

I would say the humans have let down science. The science and math that governs our physical universe is there; the issue is most of it we don’t understand yet. Throw your politics into the situation and many people will decide not to understand it to push a certain directive.

that’s the world, here in 2020.

How many college football players, who have been practicing, hands on in close proximity for a month, are currently in an ICU or even hospitalized with COVID-19?

The more I learn about statistics the more I see how easy it is to manipulate data to the point where it's hard to argue with. It's kind of scary how much faith people put in inferential statistics.

Seems like it's a matter of perspective...

Statistics aren’t the problem. It’s interpretation of statistics that are the problem.
