Shemar Stewart

With the amount of time, resources, and money these teams pour into their picks, I'm astounded how often they fall prey to the "measurables" trap. If the guy is big enough, they think they can just fix the rest.
The problem is more often than not the individuals really involved in those decisions aren't truly football people. Where measurables come into play is if player a & player b only differentiate in those measurables. But that's rarely the case. All that stuff makes a difference but not if the rest ain't in play.

Lmao why do yall think there’s a beef between him and Miami. We probably land shemar if mario wasn’t playing catch up in the last minute

Yall put way too much stock into people who really don’t matter
Yes and no. But any handler who literally tells a program, I need courtside playoff tickets or I'm gonna run interference Is someone we got an issue with...
Isn’t he coaching at American heritage now? They must be desperate as **** if so

Yeah they will, they literally do it every year with players who actually far exceed their contracts all the time.

The league rarely ever pays fair market value. The overwhelming majority of players in the league are not playing on contracts that equal in value to their production output. QB's are really the only ones getting paid in guaranteed money that is equivalent to their production.

For a DL to get paid, he has to put up Myles Garrett type of numbers over a 4+ year period. Shemar is not going to do anything close to that. So, in what scenario does Shemar get a really good guaranteed money deal on contract #2?

Like I said, unless Shemar plays like an All-Pro for the next 4 years, there's literally no circumstances where his 2nd contract is going to be anywhere close to market value.

I'm willing to guarantee right now, that he will not even be in the top 10 paid DE's 4 years from now.

If that’s true I would have told him f off but that’s cfb..i still remember him saying he was still in contact with mario even after shemar committed to a&m. Handlers get told what to do

The forever example of this will now be Travon Walker and Aidan Hutchinson.

Travon is an excellent football player. Unreal athlete. Motor for days. Plays good football. 10+ sack upside guy. Could play a really really long time in the NFL and all of a sudden you realize he's around 100 career sacks.

But he's not better than Aidan Hutchinson and no matter how athletic Travon is, exceptionally more athletic than Hutch, but Hutch is just a better football player.

The same could have been said about Aldon Smith and JJ Watt a generation ago.

You can be the most elite athlete and a great football player. But an elite football player is more important than an elite athlete.

The guy that made both of those picks was Trent Baalke whose highest level of ball was All-Conference of a Minnesota intramurals league. ymmv on if you consider him a football guy.
