shannon as dc?

Randy will always be fam, but he can't coach here again. Plus, it's hard to imagine somebody having so little self esteem that they would go back to a place that fired them AND take a pay cut. Plus plus, yeah why bother? There have to be a dozen guys we could get who would be better.

Miami's best defenses was under Randy Shannon as a DC...Florida's defense remains good with Shannon as a Co-DC...I can't imagine there REALLY being a dozen guys who would be a better fit...Also, I understand what you mean by the self-esteem thing, but it's different when you're talking about your home in my opinion. He's was born a cane, raised a cane, played as a cane, and coached on all 4 levels as a cane( GA, Position, Coordinator, Head)...I would be suprised if he would decline an upgrade (from Co-DC to DC), I don't know how much Miami plans on paying him, but I doubt it would be a pay cut.

Shannon benefited from the same players Coker did.

He was on cruise control until the talent started to dissipate.

He is not and never was a good coach or coordinator.

A black dude not being able to find a job in CFB isn't that big of a deal and it isn't an indictment on how well he can coach. Randy Shannon can coach defense. He has never been incompetent in that regard. Never.

Yall saying anything right now.

Personally, him taking a job as a gator makes me sick and that alone makes me cringe about him coaching at Miami again.... But acting like Randy Shannon is a bad defensive coach is fuggin absurd

the guy that let VT hang 40+ and slowhio state 30+ on one of the most talented defenses in college football?

it was brutal watching that buckeye game..

spread 5 wide
qb sneak up the middle

all **** night basically

WTF are you talking about? Ohio State had two scoring drives in regulation. The first started from the Miami 17 and the second from the Miami 14. Yes, Krenzel was able to run the ball because we played a lot of man under. Ohio State had around 265 yards of total offense. If Miami doesn't get screwed in the first overtime, they win 24-17. Once Porter ripped the win away from kids they lost their intensity.

so my point stands

krenzel offense put 31 and the game before that, VT scored what? 45?

Man **** Randy Shannon. He left this program in worse shape than AL did. That's real talk. He is a very overrated DC. Terrible recruiter, in south florida anyways. I know he is a cane and family and all that **** but he is not welcome back in my opinion.

You are ridiculous... Y'all bring up any and everything to discredit a coach for no reason.....with your logic Brent Venables is a terrible DC...his defense gave up 41 points to NCState that averages 33 points a game...NCST talent level is nothing close to Clemson...

Weird that people think this is a possibility. When in the history of CFB has a HC ever been fired (by his alma mater, no less) and later returned to that school to be a position coach or coordinator?

We have a better chance of Howard Schnellenberger coming back to coach UM.

It's strange... After watching him and Golden the past decade, I think Shannon is a little better HC, IMO. BUT, Golden left UM in a better state.

I think Golden actually has a decent eye for talent... Just couldn't coach them up.

So you're telling me if Butch Davis was hired and wanted Randy Shannon as a DC/LB coach he wouldn't give it strong consideration?
