shannon as dc?

We have 3900000 HC candidates mentioned already with another 4000 every day -- why are we even thinking about assistants. With all the chaos coming the next few weeks, there is no telling what assistants will be available including a bunch of FORMER HCs.

I think assistants are equally as important as a head coach. Thats why
 
No way, make that **** no. Most overrated DC we ever had who couldn't even find a spot anywhere to lead a defense on his own.

Have we even tapped any of the innovative young head coaches from the Japan X League? These guys play real American football and will have an inside track to the top underserved Japanese/American talent.
 
Randy will always be fam, but he can't coach here again. Plus, it's hard to imagine somebody having so little self esteem that they would go back to a place that fired them AND take a pay cut. Plus plus, yeah why bother? There have to be a dozen guys we could get who would be better.
 
Shannon hasn't been a DC in nearly 10 years. Offenses have changed drastically since then.

Miami's best defenses was under Randy Shannon as a DC...Florida's defense remains good with Shannon as a Co-DC...I can't imagine there REALLY being a dozen guys who would be a better fit...Also, I understand what you mean by the self-esteem thing, but it's different when you're talking about your home in my opinion. He's was born a cane, raised a cane, played as a cane, and coached on all 4 levels as a cane( GA, Position, Coordinator, Head)...I would be suprised if he would decline an upgrade (from Co-DC to DC), I don't know how much Miami plans on paying him, but I doubt it would be a pay cut.

Our guys are so ******* behind the ball on fitness. Can you imagine how guys like AQM, Carter and Thomas would look like with a legitimate S&C coach?

Putting aside all the s**t he's talked (it's recruiting, I get it), I just don't see it. Other than the fact that he knows the culture, why hire him? Not that he's terrible or anything, but what does he offer other than he is a metric ton better than our current DC? I imagine their to be other guys who can offer more, so Randy's main selling point is that he's been here before. That's not a bad point, but I'm about getting the BEST we can afford at every position, and I don't think he's it.

That's business. You don't see al giving back any money, and maryland sure tried to f**k the ACC on their way out. And they were a founding member. Not much loyalty in the world anymore.
