Shamar " Marty" Brown

Reminds me a little bit of Travis Homer feel like he had some runs in like 17-18 with great contact balance.

I'm sticking with my Deejay comparison. I know Charmar is a bigger back. But he has really good short are wiggle and knows how to find or create space. I really like this kid's skills.

Ehhh I see more Baby J James #5 from him if we’re sticking to former canes

Upright but runs hard and isn’t an easy tackle and challenges you to bring him down. Not a burner but he gets down hill

I just don’t see it with Brown. He’s a serviceable backup but when your starter is Mark Fletcher, subbing a slower version of him isn’t really ideal. He’s a nice receiver for a big back but has almost zero breakaway ability. Under 4 yards per carry is unacceptable even for a power back.

I will never forget how this kid came from the Antarctica into the Cotton Bowl game that last series. Like many have said, he will be in the league a few years and contribute.

Is he a star or lead back? No, but a nice player. Yds per game is impacted by the large number of goal line or short yd carries.

Normally, I’d agree that short yardage carries effect ypc average but it’s not like we were subbing Mark Fletcher out in short yardage situations. He got the most short yardage and goal line carries on the team but his ability to turn 3-4 yard runs into 15-20 yard runs pumped his average to 5.5. While Brown’s lack of explosiveness kept him from breaking off many big runs. Brown averaged 3.9 yards per carry on 122 carries. That’s a large sample size and roughly double the amount of carries as our #3 back, Gerard Pringle.

He’s a nice between the tackles short yardage option and a good receiver but I expect him to lose more touches to Pringle and Mallory.
