Contenders and pretenders will start to separate next Saturday. 6 of the 7 teams play each other. Loser of VT/UNC game will be in real bad shape, as they'll have two conference losses. Pitt/UVA winner sitting pretty at 2-0, as would GT with a victory. Canes right in the hunt if they can get a win in Atlanta.

Let Goldie, and his BFF, be on notice; any let up, or reversion to apathy-ball, will be subject to even more vicious vitriol.

The mopes have spoken.

we lost to loserville so if we lose to fsu will put us out of it for the most part. We have to beat fsu imo to be in or not counting on other teams to beat people

The Louisville loss really hurt the chances to win the coastal everybody else would have to have at least 3 ACC losses for the CANES to win it. The total ACC record comes into play when figuring out the winner.

If we win all of the coastal games we go 6-2 in conference and win all the tie breakers….I don't see any of the other teams going 7-1 in conference play.

I think they should re-allign the divisions with us in the same as FSU and Clemson and UL coming to the Coastal to balance things out

If we lose to GT, we are out of contention, season over. Win, and we are mathematically in, but in reality, just handed another back door Coastal title to VT.

(my math: We beat GT, but we lose to Free Shoes and VT, automatic. We go 4-3 in the Coastal, at best) VT will be at least 4-3, with a tiebreaking win over us.

If we lose to GT, however, they have have a 2 game lead over VT, with the tiebreaker. Hard for even Paul Johnson to choke away a lead like that. We go 4-4 at best or more like 3-5.

BTW, they should count ONLY division records. Coastal record determines Coastal champion, period. We get to start every year 0-2 in the Coastal because we play Free Shoes and UL, while GT and VT NEVER do.

Or we could just get rid of the divisions in general. The actual rivalries within the conference don't necessitate it. Do conference scheduling like the NFL does with their overall schedule and give the previous season's last place finisher the "easiest" conference schedule and so on while also preserving the rivalry games.

This could end up happening.

We don't play Louisville again until 2019. We only play them once until 2025.

This is basically like March Madness for everyone from here on out. Lose a Coastal game and your out. I agree that even if we lose to FSU we can win the Coastal with a 6-2 record.

They wont put us on the other side of the bracket because the plan was for the FSU vs. UM rivlary to make its way to the ACC title game on a yearly basis which would generate big time ratings for the title game and make the conference game rival that of an SEC title game.

Unfortunately, we havent lived up to our end of the bargain which is why people are even discussing this.
