Just a long-time fan and football novice parked in front of his TV, so desperately need help of the football savants, coaches/ex-coaches and guys with enough time on their hands to study tape. Please share your insight and opinions.
What's the deal with Miami's inability to set the edge? Doesn't matter if it's UAB, Pitt, UVA, Clemson - everyone seems to get the edge against Miami. I thought the strength of Miami was having athletes all over the field who could run down ball carriers. Thought we had great defensive ends. So what is going on? Why so many designed plays that get around the edge or runs successfully bounced outside? Is it players, defensive scheme? What do opposing coach and their opps guys see on tape getting ready for Miami?
Help a frustrated fan, please.
