you are surprised the team went 7-6 because the team had 5 mid round draft pics?

Yes when you consider the other talent on our team and our competition. How many of the teams on our schedule last season will have 5 guys taken in the draft?

This season will be looked at exactly the way goldens was when we had numerous draft picks and went 7-6. Both guys tenures will end in the same fashion as well

I'm neither mope nor slurper. I'm frustrated with Mario but still a fan of his. So I'll agree to disagree with the last part. Mario is 10x the head coach that Al Golden was. First, the players and staff genuinely like the guy, so his leadership skills alone are a massive difference. Second, he is a relentless recruiter. Golden was plus, Mario is elite. Third, his coordinators will be better. Dawson v Coley and Guidry v Dorito? No contest. Not to mention we have legit NIL backers right now where Golden had virtually no support following the Shapiro scandal.

IMHO, Mario will get it right, erven if it is agonizingly slow.

Well I guess we will have to wait and see for 2024 Draft. 2023 the ACC had 32 draft picks and Miami had 3 of them so there were plenty of teams on the schedule that had equal or comparable talent. Throw A&M in the mix as well, they had 3 draftees. Miami hasn't had more talent than any of their opponents over the last decade. Doesn't excuse Mario for his mediocre performance as HC last year though. Having a couple mid round picks doesn't equal over whelming talent. 2 of the guys were 1 year rentals and LT might as well not even been on the team last year. Dude had like 15 tackles on the season

I agree with both these statements.

I generally agree with @Dwinstitles opinion talent trumps coaching outside of a few brilliant developers and play callers ... and even those guys aren't able to beat elite talent with good coaches.

I also agree we haven't had better (or much better) talent than a lot of teams we've played under Mario. But I also believe Mario has squandered the mid-level talent he inherited to some degree. 5 kids is definitely a big step up from 3 kids, so we're heading in the right direction. I can see at least that many getting drafter next year, too, probably closer to 9 (Ward, Kiko, Rivers, Restrepo, Mesidor, JHH, Powell, at least one other OL, at least one other DL). 9 >>>>> 3, and almost certainly more than anyone we'll be playing in 2024 including FSU, UF and UL.

After the next round of transfers out (D$ mentions 10, I wouldn't be surprised if there are even more), the team will nearly entirely players he recruited. Combine that with our increased talent level, Mario needs to take a big big step up. I'm expecting 10, could be more if he can land a top WR, CB and/or DT inbound from the portal.

If Ward is what we think he is we will have a great season. It starts with him he’s the driver, the coaches ain’t playing it’s on him. We go as he goes
