Way to go ...Just a month after Golden's canned and Blake finally hires a search squad...Wasted money, more importantly ..wasted time...

This **** should have done months before they fired Golden. What a bunch of ***** ups running that school. We should have already hired someone. Let's just wait another few months to hire one of the top 3 available and watch the 16 class fall apart, ***** ups. College didn't do **** for this bunch of bums.

Korn Ferry is the firm that put Charlie Strong in Texas!!

And Sarkisian at USC...and Hoke at UoM...and SVG with the Pistons.

DONT YOU EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER DISS SVG.

Look, in the world of big business, headhunters like this serve several purposes. First, and perhaps foremost it that they can contact people under contract without being accused of improper tampering. They are just asking for information to pass on to their clients. Second, most of the good ones, and this is one of the best, have relationships with people who can give good advice. They could call, for example, Bill Belichick, and ask who are the brightest OCs in the game or who would he hire as DC.........Third, they do a deep investigation into their background. So, if a school hires a sexual harasser or drunk, it can claim it is not responsible for that concealed fact. They also generally lead interviews, draft contracts [and know what the real terms are of other contracts]. I think this is a sign that the school is trying to "go big" and land a "great' hire not just a logical one.................

This is a good move, even if no one trusts the people in charge of the school, this makes sense. I'd rather leave no stone unturned, than interview one guy and call it done. I'm all for Butch being brought back, but if a better coach wants in, make it happen. Atleast this way more than a few options will be viewed.

Love the Vinny and Vilma choices. Neither have been hot-headed or loud-mouthed about the situation. I think they can bring a well thought out and rational opinion to the table.

they are two of the smartest canes. not even kidding here on vilma.

LOL at Vinny being one of the smartest Canes. You're showing a dearth of insight.

My thoughts exactly. Not the sharpest crayon in the box.

let me put this kindly to both you and the fan with a dabo picture and 14k too many posts, HE KNOWS MORE ABOUT FOOTBALL THAN YOU CAN EVER FORGET.

Make sure Vinny does not get on his moped before we decide on the next HC... otherwise I am not sure of his judgement.

Harbaugh to Michigan, McElwain to Florida, and even Strong to Texas I would argue looked like a good move at the time. Pretty much all their other hires look suspect.

Harbaugh to Michigan was a no brainier. Our idiot owner of the Dolphins (and Michigan alum) Stephen Ross had more to do with it than this so-called search firm. What a racket.

Um....wrong. It's been many years but if you asked me my personal impression of having spent time around the man I would put it as kindly as i could and its this: he never was gonna try for Mensa membership.

That pick is confounding. And what the **** ever happened to having Jimmy participate?? THAT would have given me confidence but having Vilma there is still very welcomed news. Vinny has zero business being a part of this. He's been out of the game and unplugged for far too long. just my .02.

And what do we know about the others??

The search advisory committee will provide James with input on the process and on candidates. Members of the advisory committee include Board of Trustees members Hilarie Bass, David Epstein and Steve Saiontz; Deputy Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley and former UM standouts Jonathan Vilma and Heisman Trophy winner Vinny Testaverde.

Bass is co-chair, Epstein?? I've got nothing, and Saiontz is Millers brother in law :/
What's the story with Jennifer Strawley?? Is this the person that's been alluded to within the Hecht that does not like Butch?

I don't know. This whole search firm and committee business seems really CYA. Doesn't anybody know how to do a job anymore?? Pfft...Blake.
