Search Committee Announced

3 weeks later, and only now are they getting around to naming a search committee. That's why you don't wait till the end of the year like these morons planned.

With your experience in hiring multi-million dollar employees, what should have happened in the last three weeks that can't happen in the next three weeks?

Agree.

It's not a secret that the Miami job is open.

They gave a window for candidates to express interest, now they're going after a few who probably didn't.

Hire the search firm to deal with the rejection from and to coaches, and it keeps the school in the clear.

Smart move by James, IMO.

Consulting firm for clear back channel communications.

A search committee to synthesize information.

Vilma and Vinny to add NFL alumni and historical perspective, and legitimize the search for the public layman.

This is great news. Proper process for a proper search.

Of course, the decision will rest with James and BOT.

Herman or Butch, and I'm so happy.

I don't disagree but I'm concerned there's too many people in the search committee.
Too many people inject too many voices, too many opinions, too many biases to process that needs clarity.
Hope I'm wrong.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - University of Miami Director of Athletics Blake James announced today the retention of a search firm and the formation of a search advisory committee as the University seeks a new head football coach.

Korn Ferry, one of the world's most respected search firms with vast experience in coaching searches, has been retained and will assist the University in all aspects of the search process.

The search advisory committee will provide James with input on the process and on candidates. Members of the advisory committee include Board of Trustees members Hilarie Bass, David Epstein and Steve Saiontz; Deputy Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley and former UM standouts Jonathan Vilma and Heisman Trophy winner Vinny Testaverde.

"We are well underway in our search process," said James, "and, as expected, there is already a tremendous amount of interest in The U. Additionally, we are reaching out to a number of UM constituencies to engage in dialogue and to hear their thoughts and vision. We will work diligently to find a great fit for Miami and I want to thank in advance the members of the advisory committee for their dedication to our University."

Well underway sounds like a decision could be made soon & at LEAST Flake says "The U"

Translation: It became too obvious that Dimare was the AD. So they put out this smokescreen listing everyone except him as being involved.

Dimare is still the AD.

Dimare is still the AD.

I really hope that isn't the case ...

But it's completely plausible ...

Is this serious? They're using a search firm?

Maybe this is how it's done when looking for a HC in the college game, but it just resonates like someone isn't performing his job and is wasting university money...

Korn Ferry is a good name in the search business (although I'm sure LinkedIn is stealing market share)....

If we're going to have alumni involved, Vilma would've been one of my top choices (because he's a sharp cookie).....I don't know a lot about Vinny (outside of football). I think I'm happy that he's involved, though...

With my only experience being, at the bare minimum, the sense God gave a jackass, that sense informs me(and would anyone who has it, obviously you don't ) that 3 weeks from today, the best candidates will already have other jobs.

And oh yeah, since you need help with your adding too, the end of the season is 2 weeks away plus 3 weeks from that is 5 weeks from now. The only coach left at that point Poindexter, will be Golden.

Totally fake. Only 2 men are making the decision. Neither of them on that list. You must donate at least 10 million a year to have any say. Nobody on that list will have final say.

So you're saying that the people who write the checks tell the people who cash the checks what to do and where to do it? Sounds a lot better than "let the fat ***** decide."

What's with these search committees? Isn't identifying and hiring the best head coach the AD's principal job?

I don't remember Sam Janckovich ever hiring a search committee. He just went out and hired the best available.

Yeah, but Sam had testes. That swung when he walked.

To be fair, Charlie looked like a great hire and many would have killed for him two years ago. However, now we are seeing that Strong was successful only because of Clint Hurtt's shady recruiting

How much phuckin money are we wasting on the search firm? We should have Golden paying for this out of his 7 million dollar buyout.
