i'll say this for malik: he was a developmental QB handpicked by james coley, who has as good a track record with QBs as any coach in the country. it's possible that he's reaching the potential that coley saw in him in high school.
and if you go back and watch that duke game, he made a lot of really good throws. the inaccuracy on intermediate throws is there even in some of the completions, but he showed the ability to make difficult and accurate throws down the sidelines, both deep and on out breaking routes, and under pressure. you can see the gameplan with malik in that game -- screen passes to the WRs (we were a really good screen team last year), throws out on the sidelines and down the field, and if you're able to lean on your run game some you can hit some play action over the middle. (and he didn't really run the ball himself in that game which we know will be in the offense.)
i wanted n'kosi to the win the job and still would like to see him take over at some point, but between malik and evan, malik has an encouraging track record both as a prospect and in game action if you want to see it.
