SCRIMMAGE 2

If he can stay consistent & not turn the ball over too much it makes sense to let him basically play his Senior season (I know he's a Red Junior) out while Perry gets ready for next year.

Unless Rosier is just terrible vs FSU, he'll be the starter for the whole season & I'm good with that, he has the opportunity to finally help us win the Coastal... I'm in 100% support of him, lets ride!

Will be interesting to see what Richt does if he names Rosier the starter and we go 11-1 or 10-2. Would he bench the senior next year in favor of RS Frosh/true sophomore Perry?

If Rosier is the starter and is for the remainder of the year, Perry needs to redshirt.
I've been thinking about that a lot lately too, I think Perry probably will redshirt because he's not going to play until late 4th quarter mop up duty.

Redshirt Freshman QB's have had a lot of success in College Football over the last 5 years, I would expect the same with Perry.

As far as Rosier, I think he graduates in May, so maybe he sticks around for one more year or maybe he transfers, but if he helped lead us to a 10 win season then there would be no reason for him to transfer lol

I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

The thing is that no one on this board actually thought coming into camp that Perry was going to be the reason we win 10-11 games this year. We all think that cause we have a strong defense and very good skill players. If rosier is a heisman trophy candidate then great but if he's a game manager that happens to win 10-11 games and the coastal that doesn't secure him the job next year. Not if you have a potential Lamar jackson manziel type player on the bench. Not saying Perry is anywhere near that good but some ppl on this board think that. I for sure hope he is that good tho.

i agree

if evan is in it makes the game easy for fsu and they will have less ground to cover and have no respect for him

FSU struggles with mobile QB's. Rosier will have to use his legs if we have a chance. Not sure our Offense is built for that.

It is built for that.

Is it? Last year, we ran a RPO. CMR also never really had a mobile QB in his career as a head coach.

lol

?

Not encouraging that the 1st team offense can't score from 1st and three against the 2nd team defense.

Rosier was picked by Bandy and Richt didn't blame him because it wasn't due to a bad decision or throw.

Bandy has that nickel spot locked up.

"..number 1 defense probably won every single rep of third downs." -Pastor Richt

Obvious statement but love having a defense that knows how to get off the field on third downs.

Frustrating to not have a goal line/short yardage option. May turn out to be our Achilles heel...

FSU is going to need a stop to get the ball back and rosier is going to tuck it and pick up the first down, breaking their back and winning the game.

Yes, I think the RPO is built for a mobile QB if used correctly. It's almost a pseudo-wildcat offense where you have 3 options every play depending on what the defense gives you.

No way you bench Malik for his senior season in this scenario.

Agreed. I like to play devil's advocate with this forum, because people have fallen in love with Perry and this would be a situation where Perry would have to wait another year to show off his Jesus skills.

Sheriffs 2 ypc more than Malik

That doesn't tell us the wr yac

College football has turned into a game of "yac." It's more about the QB making the right read to where the space for the yac was, than the QB heaving it down field into tight windows.
I agree but that's my point. That stat alone is meaningless because Evan's wr could've ran/juked to add to it; where Malik's could've been tackled/tripped.

I don't see a huge problem. Among other things, bring in an extra OT (find one, first), put two WRs out there, and use Rosier's legs. NFL teams increasingly remove the FB from their Goal Line sets for a reason. It narrows options and brings defenders in the box. Realize we're probably a TE short, but it can be remedied. We're not winning or losing meaningful games against good defenses because we don't have a FB or an extra blocking TE. ****, NFL teams are now increasingly in the Shotgun from the 5 and in.

I agree and hope for the same. I think the RPO with a QB who can't run (Kaaya) is not effective. It was frustrating not seeing Kaaya take off when he should have. We'll see.

Anyone know if there were any injuries and whats the status of Cager? He has not caught a ball in 2 scrimmages now

Just get us an offense that can consistently(this being the key word) that can score 24-28 pts a game, with this defense unit, this can be a big season.

If Rosier is the guy, than so be it....
