SCRIMMAGE 2

FSU is going to need a stop to get the ball back and rosier is going to tuck it and pick up the first down, breaking their back and winning the game.

i agree

if evan is in it makes the game easy for fsu and they will have less ground to cover and have no respect for him

FSU struggles with mobile QB's. Rosier will have to use his legs if we have a chance. Not sure our Offense is built for that.

He will Improvise............they wont bench him if hes picking up first downs

If he can stay consistent & not turn the ball over too much it makes sense to let him basically play his Senior season (I know he's a Red Junior) out while Perry gets ready for next year.

Unless Rosier is just terrible vs FSU, he'll be the starter for the whole season & I'm good with that, he has the opportunity to finally help us win the Coastal... I'm in 100% support of him, lets ride!

Will be interesting to see what Richt does if he names Rosier the starter and we go 11-1 or 10-2. Would he bench the senior next year in favor of RS Frosh/true sophomore Perry?

If Rosier is the starter and is for the remainder of the year, Perry needs to redshirt.
I've been thinking about that a lot lately too, I think Perry probably will redshirt because he's not going to play until late 4th quarter mop up duty.

Redshirt Freshman QB's have had a lot of success in College Football over the last 5 years, I would expect the same with Perry.

As far as Rosier, I think he graduates in May, so maybe he sticks around for one more year or maybe he transfers, but if he helped lead us to a 10 win season then there would be no reason for him to transfer lol

I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

@The Franchise @OriginalCanesCanes @Southcane @blackvern & few others (sorry for forgetting) were all right from the jump on Rosier.
Props to you guys & everyone else who have been high on Rosier.

I went back & forth all offseason with this QB race, when Pete said Perry would start back in January I didn't think it was possible, but as time went on it seemed like it could based on everything we would here from the insiders.

At the end of day, Richt can't force a TF QB to be the starter if he ain't ready. Rosier been here for 4 years, it's either now or never with him.

Thats whats up @Liberty City El... I dont think he is ultra talented... but he has that "it" that I don't believe our last Qb had, and he can make the big throw.... He will throw some picks but he is a gamer and can make the big play.. He can pick up 3rd down conversions with his legs... He won't be completing 65% of his passes but he will make the play when he has too. His success will be totally on the OC putting him in positions to succeed... We willl see what these coaches do mane.. i am stoked for the season
I agree with you, his mobility is what separates him, I think we could use him like USF uses Quinton Flowers.

With all the WR talent we have he should just have to make quick read throws & a couple Deep passes every game, we don't need him to be like Aaron Rodgers out there, just get rid of the ball quick & pick up some yards with his feet.

Perry red shirts, waits one more year then starts for two. Young QBs transfer when someone in their class beats them out. If Perry were to transfer next year, it would not expedite his path towards being a D1 starter. He'd still have to sit a year.

It'll keep this forum in business, for sure. OTH subscriptions will be through the roof.

I've gone back and forth on Rosier and Shirreffs all off season. Both are incomplete options. Rosier is too short, erratic, freelances too often, and up until now wasn't committed enough to addressing his weaknesses and becoming a leader. On the other hand, he's mobile, has a rocket for an arm, seems like a great kid and is a gamer. Meanwhile, Shirreffs lacks mobility and arm strength, but has good height, is a better tactician and is a more natural leader.

Despite the gaps, I was confident about three things. First, Richt "let Kaaya go". That says A LOT. Essentially, Kaaya the finished product was not a demonstrably better option in Richt's mind than either of these kids, despite their deficiencies. Second, he also didn't fight to keep Allison, who was the most gifted of the three (and more gifted than Kaaya) but was struggling to put it together on the field. Third, neither Weldon nor Perry would be able to displace these two in time for the start of the season. Only a handful of kids in the history of the game have pulled that off, and they include HOFers like Peyton Manning and Dan Marino. No quality coach expects his recruit to be on par with legends like that. Hopes, sure. But you don't plan your season around odds like that.

So, from my perspective, Richt went into this camp knowing these were his obvious front runners, despite having the option to fight to keep Kaaya and Allison. IMO, that means he has the highest probability to win with these guys. Given it's his legacy and job on the line, I have to believe that "the QB whisperer" knows what he's doing.

All I know is we have no shot with Sherriffs after we found out dude wasn't even athletic and could not throw on the run w/ the addition of having a noodle arm there just isn't anything I can see that he brings to the table. People are forgetting that QB aren't live so QB don't really try to run. Rosier has thrown for the most yards by far then you have to take into account that he is a QB that can run. I wonder if people ever thought that some of Malik picks are forced because he isn't necessarily deciding to run because it not live? I mean look at Louisville last 2 spring games for example. Lamar Jackson basically never runs but we all know that 50% of his game is running. Get what I mean? Maybe in a actual game some of those Int he threw won't be a problem because he'll be more inclined to just run instead of throwing it up for grabs trying to impress the coaches.

Is it? Last year, we ran a RPO. CMR also never really had a mobile QB in his career as a head coach.
