Depends. It would appear our cornerbacks haven’t exactly improved in pass coverage. Even Tyrique has been beaten a few times but most of the throws have been offI’m not touching this lol but I think it’s pretty pointless to bring up last years UM team or TAMU team when talking about this game. It means nothing. TAMU is nothing like they were last year and we are nothing like we were last year so what happened last year and our results vs Bama last year is completely irrelevant and stupid to discuss. .02
Not saying you're wrong. But Texas A&M has way more young players playing than us.Miami - 4 Turnovers
A&M - 2 Turnovers
I am concerned about being on the road at night in a pretty hostile environment. Young kids tend to make mistakes like fumbles and tipped catch attempts turning into Ints. I am more than willing to be proven wrong.
A&M 27
Miami 16
Jeez, that score looks disgusting. We roll.
15-0
I definitely did but the onus is on our Canes to prove we can win as a road dog vs an SEC team. I was exaggerating to make my point earlier. I'm just tired of getting all worked up just to come crashing down to earth. We may get beat or outright whipped on Saturday which I'll hate but whatever happens I am firm in the belief that Mario and staff will build this rooster up and transform us into a tough physical yet explosive and fun to watch team. The hard part may be that we might have to go through some difficult growing pains in order to get to where we want to go and as much as it sucks to hear, this game vs a chronically overrated ATM team who lost to App State may be the beginning of those growing pains. We'll see on Saturday. I do think we are good enough to beat them if we come to play.Just to play devil's advocate, you didn't see anything last week from TAMU that would come back to really bite them vs P5 comp?
Clemson’s defense is heads and shoulders better than A&M. There’s a chance that VT has a better defense too. We’ll let the year play itself out.I’m sticking with what I’ve said from the beginning, baby doll. I am genuinely concerned about TVD/Gattis at this exact moment, under these exact circumstances. Long term they probably figure it out, but this D is the best we will face all year, and we have no elite WR or good enough chemistry to offset their talent advantage. 16 points may be generous.
If it’s any consolation I think we are more likely to blow them out then they are us.
The key on offense is has Gattis been holding back? Sure seems that way. If not and its more of the same and they fall in love with the run again this week gives a&m the edge. If Gattis opens it up which I think he will Miami will score in the high 20's or more. Need to see play action. Throw to the backs in space and wrinkles like the flea flicker. For Miami can they hold up for 4 quarters in the trenches? Keep TVD upright.I subscribe to the theory that we can do a lot of damage to them by getting up early. It won’t be enough to win, but it will make winning easier.
If I’m Steele, I am 100% employing the table tennis strategy I was taught at a young age: get the ball to their side of the table and let them make losing mistakes. Until you are a master, you let other people over-exert themselves and force errors. Keep the ball in front of you, return every volley, you’ll win more times than you lose. Haynes King is that guy and their OL has been that weak. I would not take a bunch of risks, I’d make them do things they haven’t yet (move the ball reliably and make winning plays) through their two games.
On offense I have very little confidence that we will look much better than them, sans the mistakes. The good news is we may not have to be much better to win.
Vag Tech is ranked #5 in total defense , Clemson is #47 .... Canes are #33 and Texas A&M is #21Clemson’s defense is heads and shoulders better than A&M. There’s a chance that VT has a better defense too. We’ll let the year play itself out.
