What’s up everybody, it’s great to see some optimism around the program again. Wanted to clear up and explain what is trying to be accomplished by the former players at the roundtable and how we’re ALL trying to go about it.

These dudes are so passionate, all they want to do is be involved and they’ve been locked out for about a decade from what I understand.

The other night they weren’t trying to abolish the portal and take over recruiting. The guys were trying to come up with simple and realistic solutions on how UM can once again utilize one of our biggest advantages- the brotherhood.

-It’s the beginning of a movement. This wasn’t a one and done event.
-They’re not moving forward with any solutions that need an unlimited/SEC budget. But, obviously everything is discussed (as reported)- just not going to be put on camera.
-It’s all evolving in real time and that’s why everyone wanted to keep it lowkey until after the event. Not hating on Andy Slater at all, but narratives get created when there’s little info out. The media who were invited kept their word and didn’t say anything which was much appreciated. The publicity helps anyway as Herbstreit showed us.

This absolutely isn’t meant to be an Emmy winning production like a 30 for 30. Yes, there was Donovan Campbell who had a slick green suit with orange loafers and the video work was fire, shoutout Kenny Phillips. But, the media needed to be there and Donovan needed to be there and it needed to be filmed cause one of the best things that’s happened in the past 20 years for us was Herbstreit ripping us- that was definitely acknowledged during the discussion. Just like the awesome @DMoney post mentioned yesterday, the former players are building off that.

Some of the points discussed:
-A lot of former players in South Fla, that are willing and able to go to youth, high school, and 7on7 football to create that UM presence/do good for the community. Just like how it was done up until early 2000’s. There’s a lot of talk about not having the number of stars a kid has as the main determination for judging a kid. These guys have the time to go to the practices and have enough eyes on kids where group decisions can be presented to UM about going after certain guys. I think we can agree, the former players have as good as eye as anyone for recognizing those dogs we want.
-Must be organized: small committee who meets with the Athletic Department (or if reports are correct- the Director of Football Operations). The committee provides a voice for all former players.
-The fan base and community are just as big of an advantage and has to be utilized too. The former players want to have a direct and organized line to the fans. Most of these solutions have been mentioned on this board and podcasts, but ex NFL guys on camera will have a bigger impact (once again, Herbstreit proved that).
Fans give solutions >> goes to former players >> committee presents it
(I don’t know much more than that, and Crowdit is not going to be in charge of putting that structure together, but we’ll do whatever we can to help)
-Guys on the sideline: goes beyond just the sideline, basically just take down the walls to being able to mentor and have communication with the guys on campus. This was a big topic too.

The videos will keep coming out to keep that “pressure” up, but also to inform all of us about what’s being discussed. Not like it’s any big secrets- better to be on same page to get the best solutions. This first video is only a part of what was discussed, there was just too much to all fit in.

Should be released tonight around 8pm on Crowdit. After that, as needed (weekly or whatever). Link to video

All the guys see this as the biggest fear for other schools recruiting South Fla, a united and organized front.

Those players are a resource that should’ve been used all day, every day.. thank you guys for doing this.

Help us understand the two biggest outputs we’ve seen: Mel’s comment and the comment about a legacy being recruited.

That alumni player has been jerking the SEC cack while throwing shade at Miami the whole recruiting season. Not sure how they rationalize that helping.

Not sure this gives us the confidence with the intentions.

Plus if they get their guy, why would he need help recruiting when that’s his biggest (and maybe only) strength?
