Ivey got a bump
It was still a pretty small bump that didn't really match his play on the field.
Ivey got a bump
Don’t know if he’s a 5 star but definitely should be top 150 or soIt’s all about the injury. If he didn’t get hurt, he would’ve been a five-star.
Elite production on a state championship defense and elite testing numbers as a HS sophomore (6’2, 194, 4.62, 4.20 shuttle, 36 VJ). He was dominating Carol City before blowing out his knee.
The bad news is that it was an ugly injury. The good news is that young players heal faster. Hopefully, Northwestern plays it conservatively and Brooks comes into college at full speed.
If he does, you are talking about a future 6’2, 235, 4.5 linebacker with quickness and instincts.
Possibly
Many are skeptical and I understand why. We haven’t had the best history with the HS rusher types that translate to LB but none of them had the physical ability of the kid. Marcus Robinson was similar attribute wise but he was a bit bigger and actually ended up playing DE after some thought he would originally be an OLB. I like him more than most. I think he should shirt and pack on weight and learn the position first and then be unleashed in 2020.

When I watch Brooks' tape, I don't at all see a prospect that is limited in his ability to being an edge rusher. I just see a guy who is elite at getting to the ball. So, putting him on the edge at the HS level is the way to maximize his disruptiveness.
I see him being able to play great in space at the LB position at the next level.
Agreed, just not the one he should have receive. an 89 composite 4 star is pretty low still.Ivey got a bump
247 on their individual rankings bumped him to a 92Agreed, just not the one he should have receive. an 89 composite 4 star is pretty low still.
Ya'll just gonna down vote and ain't got nothin to say? Then you don't matter.I think it is a very fair comparison. And with senior film holding less weight than junior sometimes, (Ivey DESTROYED comp last year to the point no one threw in his direction for long stretches, but still didn't get his deserved jump), he very well may stay somewhat dormant nationally. He could be an ambassador type IMO as well. Very well liked from what I have read.

Nothing specific. He said he will be ready for his senior season but I hope he doesn't push it. It took Mike Smith a long time to get back.
He committed to Miami after he was injured. Don’t lie to us broMy Sam Brooks story! I was watching the Carol City game an he was dominating i kept hearing his name an he pretty much had takin that game over. I was like omg who is this kid we need to recruit him an then they said he was commited to Miami or something an i was so excited an then the injury was heart breaking!!! I cant wait to see this kid play! Probably my favorite recruit for Surge19! Hope he comes back healthy and has no more knee issues kid will be a guaranteed 1st round pick rushing the passer!!!!!
Exposed lolHe committed to Miami after he was injured. Don’t lie to us bro
You are smoking that good stuff again if you think a kid that ran a 4.62 pre terrible injury is adding 40 pounds then going out and running a 4.5. This kid probably does add that weight, and probably ends up as a pass rushing specialist that runs a 4.7x at the combine. It’s all about the injury. If he didn’t get hurt, he would’ve been a five-star.

I don't see that at all. Watch the video. He's an angular athlete with stiff hips and no experience covering and tackling in space. Asking him to open his hips, backpedal, cover athletes in space and make open-field tackles is a recipe for disaster. He's an undersized edge rusher with the potential to be a Barkevious Mingo type. He's very underrated on the recruiting sites and very overrated on this board. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
Does anyone have any tape of him playing linebacker? Our fanbase (not helped by posts like the one below) have this ongoing assumption that anyone who is not prototype DE size will automatically pick up linebacker skills and excel here.

There is no question. That take by D money was wishful homerism. Re read what he posted, it is preposterous. So you think your assertion that a kid who runs a 4.62 at the age of 16 and then gets subsequently injured at the age of 16 will not be able to advance his speed and build despite natural growth, improved nutrition, and advanced college level training over the next 5-6 years is any more sound?

And yet he's ranked 670 nationally, #92 in Florida and the #48 OLB prospect. Hopefully, he's built like a lot of the South Florida guys before him and lets this be motivation.
I know he had a really bad injury but that ranking caught me off-guard.
