The reality is that most Portal QBs do not have the desire of Ward/Beck to work hard to EARN their money. They just want to be paid the maximum amount possible without any questions or concerns. They want to cash the checks without caring about what they did to earn that money.

We just took a risk on a QB who was coming off of surgery. So clearly the concerns with Leavitt are not solely "but he's coming off an injury".

Especially since I think the signed RevShare wouldn't have affected his eligibility at another school just whether his new school could pay him. Would have been interesting to see if that buyout would even hold up given how vague it supposedly was. Most of these contracts have buyouts it seems so it really just a matter of passing the kid extra money to pay it.

#1 Leavitt obviously doesn't care about winning. He cares about his development(kudos to Kiffin who knows how to develop QBs). His ego and Lane's ego are just match made in heaven. LSU will go 9-3.
#2 It's not over IMO (Moore or Simpson)
#3 Even if we roll with Luke Nickel or Emory Williams this team will be just fine. There's enough talent to go 10-2 again.

this is the new paradigm in college sports especially with QB's. I was on the Sam train, he showed a lot of moxie when he was an FR and led team to play offs....... took the bag and Lane despite his putrid reputation can develop QB's

I’m plenty tough on Mario but we don’t know this yet. He went for players who want to be elsewhere. We’ve offered big money. It isn’t easy. Let’s see how it ends up before we feel relegated to our existing qb room. I do not believe Mario will be trotting out Emory or Luke game 1 as our starter. We shall see.

I've said this for MONTHS. There simply ARE NO Ward/Beck types in the Portal this year.

Oh, ****, we're getting "punked" for this year's version of Uigaleilei or Castellanos. WAAAAHHHH...

QBs can improve over time. I'm not saying that I WANT Emory or Nickel to start at this moment, but they might be much better in 8 months. Not to mention, who knows where the next Trinidad Chambliss is.

I'd love a Ward/Beck type to emerge and pick Miami to spend his last year of college. Outside of Simpson (who has leverage), there aren't many of those guys.
