Sam Bruce USCe visit

Sam is quick and pretty fast. He will run a 4.4 at the combine but will also get run down if it were a 100m by a few DBs(not many). The key is that he separates from DBs making it easier on the QB and less likely for him to get caught. I want but don't think we get Bruce. Hope he knows that true happiness is found within and not playing people.

Sam Bruce won't run a 4.4.. you guys on here act like a 4.4 is the standard for any football player. There is a difference in being quick and being fast and Bruce is just quick. He probably runs in the 4.55-4.6 range, but he's so shifty and accelerates so fast that you have no chance to get him in a short area 1 on 1. He will probably never get below a 4.5 40 but that doesn't matter because of his shiftyness.

If you produce at a good enough level in college as a WR (like 700+ yards for a couple seasons, just have an above average season) then go to the combine and run anything below a 4.45.. you will be paid pretty well. 4.4 and below is elite, 4.41-4.45 is good NFL speed, 4.46-4.52 is average, and 4.53 and up you better be a good route runner or be really strong, or have some elite craft. That's NFL not college.

Very inconsistent post.

If you run a 4.4 then you don't get caught from behind.

And anybody who is fast enough to run 4.4 at the combine is a **** of a lot faster than "pretty fast."

Williams looks so much faster than Bruce ? This could be another reason he leaves Miami Hurricanes Crystal Ball Target Predictions

Sam Bruce would be a monster in that Urban Meyer offense. I just don't see him leaving the state.

How would he be a monster? He is shorter and slower then every receiver on their team... And they go deep .. Did u watch the championship game last year... Going deep will not be bruce's fortay

I never seen him get caught from behind. Have you? Plus he's super elusive in open space. He's faster than Victor & he just committed

Cmon Mo P i've went to many St. Thomas games this year with a sideline pass..Bruh he doesnt separate after he gets the ball..they put him at RB and QB a lot this year and he showed mediocre explosion ... Speed explosion are not his top qualities...Ive seen him on reverses and yes he is super elusive but he is 5'8 victor is 6'3,,and i like bruce more than victor....his fortay will be going over the middle against linebackers and safeties and making people miss.... like him on special teams also but is he better then Malek Young or williams? I want him for his toughness, his hands( he can make incredible cathes), his 3rd down conversions...He is very athletic and Ive seen him go up against linebackers heads up..he is one tough cookie. you want dudes like that on your team..I love dude's game and he will be successful anywhere he goes but he will not ever be Miami's #1 WR... or any teams #1 WR.. doesnt mean he wont be successful but it also doesnt mean he is our most important recroot

He is likely running 4.55-4.65 now but can drop .1-.2 for laser timed 40 by working on the takeoff and getting 4 years older/stronger. If he is a 4.55 then he will be in the 4.4-4.45 area. You guys sound so hurt by him potentially not signing. If he signs you guys will come back stating he runs a 4.2 after watching him play.

And for the record, Williams is a 4.45 guy now with 10.75 top end speed with the potential to run in the 4.3 range.

That about covers it, my thoughts exactly .

Alison and shaq were the most important kids. Bruce isn't even top 5 IMO. We need DL and OL talent bad. If we don't sign any then by default he moves up.

Come on guys, now that some feel he may leave we are now making excuses. Let's get real. If he comes he comes, if not we move on. Let's not make excuses that he's too small, etc... There are plenty of examples recently of smaller players working out extremely well in the NFL

Antonio Brown
Wes Welker
TY Hilton
Steve Smith
Darren Sproles

I am sure there are more but I don't feel like looking it up. Everyone is not your prototypical 6'4" 220 running a 4.3...

If Trindon Holiday can play in the NFL then Bruce could too. That said, Bruce is 5'6 1/2" at best so comparisons to WR's that are actually 5'9" and above aren't exactly accurate. Wes Welker is short. Bruce would be your friend that you'd joke around and call a midget.

lol at comparing him to Holliday. The guy was almost an olympian, for crying out loud.

Just relative to the height deficiency. Obviously Bruce ain't never gonna be as fast as him. Nonetheless, these are all NFL-level Mel Kiper type concerns. If used right, Bruce can easily be a dominant college receiver.

All I know is this - at that Under Armour All American game, he caught a kick and accelerated 20 yards up the field and of the entire game it was the most impressive burst I saw. I don't know what he did at STA and I don't give a flying fack if he runs a 4.54 vs a 4.42. All I know is that if you can go to an AA game and have the quickest shown burst on the field amongst about 40 other all american skill players and you're from St. Aquinas, you need to be a Miami Hurricane. Let's not overcomplicate this. Miami needs to land the Sam Bruces of the world to get back to being Miami. I doubt Richt retires if he doesn't sign here but consistently missing guys like this and rationlizing it is a big reason why we are what we've been the last 10 years. Land the kid and let's watch SoFla kids make plays for the Miami Hurricanes.

End of story. Good post.
