Criminally underrated coming out of high school. Not even a high 3*. Absolute joke.Yes Brooks was a high 4* before he tore up his knee.

Agree but think that was mainly because of the knee and Brooks not being at full speed his senior season.Criminally underrated coming out of high school. Not even a high 3*. Absolute joke.
That's been one of the most overstated myths that Brooks wasn't back to full speed his Senior season.Agree but think that was mainly because of the knee and Brooks not being at full speed his senior season.
Nonetheless I believe Brooks is going to be special.
Don’t believe he has verified numbers. From the eye test, he might be bigger.

6'3 205lbs unofficial 4.6 speed, don't know what his short shuttle is.
But the Brooks comparison is one I made in his offer thread & one the staff feels is the closest to atheltically.
He has a stronger lower body than Brooks had coming out of HS, but they're both similar style quick twitch Rush-ends that convert to Standup backer in college.
I think in response to a post @HighSeas made about Brooks last year I mentioned Tavares Gooden. I know it's unlikely we have verified athletic HS testing numbers for Gooden. However, Gooden's transition from HS rush End to College LB and the style he and Brooks chased plays down always made me remember Gooden. I think Gooden was like 230 when he entered the NFL. I think Brooks can be pretty close to that in the next couple years. Interested to see Brooks' instincts in choosing gaps this year. We know he can run to the sidelines and chase plays backside well.
Didn’t realize that, I always thought it was the injury, no way he should’ve been a 3* recruit. That's been one of the most overstated myths that Brooks wasn't back to full speed his Senior season.
He had a 100tcks 21TFL's & 16 sacks. I think people think he like sat his Senior year or something when he literally played in every game except the preseason game lol.
He had his best season of his HS career his Senior year & didn't miss any games, he was injured in October vs CC his Junior year, had surgery, recovered & played every snap of his Senior Season & was the leading tackler on our State championship Defense.
He's been fully recovered for 2 off seasons now, Idk why people keep bringing it up lol.
His ranking was lowered because he didn't go to any of the Rivals camps, people have to realize 247/Rivals rankings are all political & not merit based or based upon skill set.
Honestly, I get a Rocky McIntosh vibe from this kid. I say that with zero negative connotation attached. I always thought Rocky was one of the most underrated LB's to EVER come through this program. He was very good in coverage and a good athlete who was a sure tackler.
You do know they say TIrek Austin Cave is the fastest out of all the linebackers. If that's the case, this group is going to be ridiculous. If all three of the aforementioned guys ball out this year, do you go back to the 4-3 more in order to maximize the talent at the position, make it situational depending on the team you play, or keep the striker position in its current form? I believe the coaches need to do what ever they have to in order to get the best players on the field at the same time.Love Brooks' game. Next year him and Huff at LB will be the most speed we've had there in a lonnng time. I think Brooks and McCloud will be good this year too but Brooks still needs some seasoning
We've been bashing LB recruiting for a while, but I think Brooks and Huff will be special. Wasn't Brooks a borderline 5* pre injury?
It's getting good around here....You do know they say TIrek Austin Cave is the fastest out of all the linebackers. If that's the case, this group is going to be ridiculous. He's by far the most athletically explosive LB we have...
He had a lot of doubters on this board, but if go back & check those threads you'll see a familiar name telling yall that boy is going to kill it by his Red Frosh/Sophomore season.
Every game he played in he immediately came in & made an impact, vs Bethune he lead the team tackles & had the highest defensive PFF grade & vs La Tech did the same thing, small sample size but his upside is sky high.
He plays so fast diagnosising & locating the ball carrier, but what he has more than anything is phenomenal change of direction & recovery speed. There were a few plays vs LA Tech where he initially shot the wrong gap but immediately flipped, recovered & tracked down the RB & still got the tackle. He has high level sideline to sideline speed & his instincts are off the charts.
Kenneth Murray is a great comparison, he also reminds me of Patrick Queen from LSU who just got drafted by the Ravens, both are highly athletic Mike LB's in the 220-230lbs range with very good speed & active feet.
And even though he may be playing WLB this season, I think his upside will be best at MLB.
That’s wassup!!!Sam Brooks current weight is 219lbs as of 3 days ago.
I hope Huff was working on his body hard last year during his academic redshirt. Him and brooks are great athletes at the LB position man.. SPEED. Huff now just needs to the reps and playing time. McCloud at MLB will be interesting..
If anything that speed at LB can help on special teamsThe injuries haven't helped.
I think most folks were happy with getting Steed, but he hasn't played much yet.
And Wilder was one of the millions with a career-ending neck injury during the Wrecked regime.
Don't know how good Wilder would've been, but no one questioned his speed.
How can you be making a negative comparison to an 8 year NFL vet?!Honestly, I get a Rocky McIntosh vibe from this kid. I say that with zero negative connotation attached. I always thought Rocky was one of the most underrated LB's to EVER come through this program. He was very good in coverage and a good athlete who was a sure tackler.
