Kaaya improved from a 4.80-second 20-shuttle last summer to 4.56 now
Yesterday CaneSport broke down the top weight room performers so far this year. Today we take a look position by position at who has gone up ... or not up ... in the weight room compared to last summer:
Note that the player comparisons are from this spring to the past summer, so expect running times to improve as UM moves more into the running phase in the coming weeks (an emphasis in this phase is building bulk)
Also note that all listed previous results referring to last year are from the summer (unless otherwise noted on a separate line as from last spring)
QUARTERBACK
This year Brad Kaaya only tested in one running event, the 20-yard shuttle. He had a 4.56 time, a big improvement over last summer's 4.80 in the same event (he ran a 5.46 40 last summer). In the weight room he only did the bench press, improving from 205 last year to 220 pounds. His vertical of 24.5 inches is a full inch better than in the summer of 2014. Kaaya also weighed in at 207 pounds, dropping down (by design) from 216 last summer.
Malik Rosier is somewhat of a question mark as he did no testing because of baseball. He did weigh in at 216.5 pounds, a nice jump up from last summer's 204 pounds. Rosier also did 10 reps of 225 pounds (Kaaya did two reps).
