He is right some what. All the numbers are comparing to the end of last summer to the beginning of this summer. Some gains will be made from now to the end of the summer it just depends on the player. I know my buddy at Tennessee made the switch from DB to RB and they had him putting on as much weight as possible and his 40 went from 4.43 last year to 4.54 this year. But they expected that, and now the plan is for him to cut down a little bit and hold some of the weight he put on.
Basically he went from 183 to 196 and they expect him to start the season around 190-192. So its possible some guys just did a bulking phase (kind of like body building) and now they will cut down for the season similar to what body builders do for a competition.
Hard telling with Al though. Its never good to see a corner (Tracy Howard) go from 181 to 189 or whatever it was and then get slower. Corners dont usually bulk up but its possible.
