Rumph

Coaches are either recruiters or developers, rarely both. Dugans was a recruiter. How well did he develop the WRs? Rumph is a developer, and still recruits at a Miami level.
That logic would hold true to the highest degree, if Florida wasn’t such a hotbed for DB recruitment, it would also hold true if Rumph couldn’t get these kids to OV us, but he has on several occasions. It’s one thing if we were a small MAC team in the middle of nowhere and he couldn’t land these kids, but he’s always gotten these kids to either OV or have our hats on the table only to later get tossed aside. I agree that there maybe few coaches (Corey Raymond) who can do both at an elite level. But to go 0-6 on Elite DBs at this point isn’t even recruiting on Miami Level.

Who did he miss that wasn't looking for bag ? Don't say A. Samuel because he wanted Samuel, Manny didn't sign off on it until all the bag droppers got their receipts.
Hendo, Pat Surtain Jr, Lejond Cavazos, Keshawn Lawerence. Got all of them to either UOV or OV or commit at one point.

Exactly, since the 2017 class he’s helped bring in 7 4 star cbs and 1 3 star cb. His recruiting is fine
Cant miss on both Patrick Surtain and Tyson Campbell. I mean he coached them and was brought in partly to get those players to come. I can understand not getting Surtain, but Campbell got to get him. Also, lets not forget CJ Henderson and the Byrd who plays for TN. Too much top talent leaving South Florida to be play for others schools. He needs to do a better job of getting elite cornerbacks to stay in South Florida.

Blades made some big rookie mistakes early on in the game that really hurt us. He played much better once he got settled in the game. Frierson's hips are stiffer than a kid watching his first ****. Couch was solid in his limited snaps. He's going to be really good. Bandy was a beast that was held on every running play. The Toney run being the most obvious. Knowles was still running backwards playing center field on 4th downs coach No D style. We really needed Ivey and/or Bubba in that game. Overall, the secondary wasn't the problem.

Get out of your feelings and try being objective. Frierson was at striker all spring/summer and worked a little at corner in August once Ivey was going to be suspended.

See what Henderson is doing to JT's left hand? Its called a pass breakup. Perfect throw by Jarren but even better coverage. I get why everyone hates Henderson for the whole recruiting saga/flipping late but he is an elite cover corner.

Never once did I say Henderson is not an elite corner. I'm not a hater, I've said on this board several times that Henderson is a first round corner. What I did say was that literally your entire post was incorrect. And I said that because it was.

That's not a pass breakup. That's a receiver with 2 hands on a football, and one that should be caught 100 times out of 100. And it also wasn't a game winning play. Miami had several chances to win the game before and after that. Thomas has to make that play. Period.

The defense wasn't the problem. Miami held UF to 5.67 yards per play. For reference, 5.67 YPP would have ranked 70th in the country last year. The defense played well enough to win. The offense and special teams sucked, as usual.

Man, the pendulum swings too hard for some of ya'll. Things don't have to be 100% good or 100% bad.

Rumph is an amazing developer of talent. He's shown it since he started and at this point it's undeniable.

In terms of targeting players to recruit he has shown to be **** good or great at evaluating talent (has he had any misses in terms of mis-evaluating a player who eventually signed with us?).

As a recruiter he's not great. There's been a lot of big misses. While we can point to all the quality he's brought in, anyone who is honest can say every year we've missed out on players we wanted (and who we'd be expected to land).

Personally I hope he stays with us for years to come. His track record is becoming undeniable. As more of his players make it to the league and as we win more games, more and more players are gonna want to be coached by him.

Maybe our budget isn't as high, if you know what I mean. Those "schools" can buy players, while Miami would get the death penalty for offering a steak dinner. Until the NCAA actually cracks down on it, we will struggle to get so called top talent at these positions.

This man should never be slandered again. It’s year four and ever year we’ve had questions at corner. We went into that game with four corners and two were freshman and they got their job done. He’s one of the best CB developers in the country

Year in and year out the man coaches these DBs at an exceptional level.

#1 & #2 DB 2018 (Ps2 & TC) OV- both of whom he coached- whiff
#3 & #4 DB 2019 (TS & Kaiir Elam) OV- whiff
#3 & #20 Safties (Lawrence, Lejond) OV/UOV-whiff

If Coach Thomas or Coach Dugans had this resume, y’all would be happy af that they were let go. But one things for sure, both Thomas and Dugans landed at least one 5 ⭐ kid and Neither are still on the roster.

I was happy as f-uck when both of them were let go, especially Thomas Brown. IIRC, Thomas was struggling to land any good RBs towards the end of his tenure here. He was also a complete waste as an OC.

You guys go a little over board here. The guys highest draft pick is the 4th round, that needs to change before you start talking about a master developer.

Also you can't talk out of both sides of your mouth when it comes to his recruiting. Either his recruiting classes are fine, or he is getting more out of the guys than we expect, It can't be both. Brock is in here pointing our all the 4 star recruits he has brought in, those guys are supposed to be good players.

Bottom line, get someone drafted higher before you talk about an elite developer of talent.

As a Canes fan, I care about what they do here on Saturday, not what round they’re drafted after they leave.

This is for all the morons, BOTTOM LINE, IF YOU CRITICIZING Coach rumph, YOU ARE NOT A UM FAN PLAIN & SIMPLE!
If I’m criticizing a coach for an area in which he clearly shows a weakness I’m not a UM fan? So I guess 90% of everyone on CIS aren’t UM fans for criticizing CMR

not being argumentative.. just saying.. the criticism has been that he didn't hit on most of the generational talents/athletes.. and sell them on coming to miami.. his coaching is superb.. but he whiffed on guys that have elite traits... if u want to play in the playoff you need those guys... thats it.. he deserves to be critiqued for that

It's hard to sell "generational talents" on Miami right now. There's a reason they're going to Bama (besides money) its because theyre in the national championship every year. Clemson didn't upset Bama with generational talent. They took a bunch of 10-15th ranked recruiting classes and developed them. It's only lately that now they can recruit at Elite levels. Miami will have to take the same path. We don't have SEC resources or playoff appearances. We're going to need a few Coach Rumph's to get us taken seriously

He should get slandered for only having 4 active CB on his roster going into game 1. Other than that, yeah he has been good.
