For one, you could do your job, which is to convince recruits to sign with UM. This excuse has been used by our fans for years to shift blame away from the coaches. There was plenty to sell from UM's perspective - immediate playing time, close proximity to family and friends, a program on the rise, top-notch education, etc. Too many idiots here have pointed the finger to bagmen, lack of facilities or an on-campus stadium, and whatever else as reasons to absolve the coaches of any guilt.
The reality is we were beat, plain and simple. Concern is further compounded when a blue-chip recruit like Campbell claims UGA and Bama were recruiting him harder than the University less than an hour away from his high school. This goes beyond any desire to get out of town. It's a trend of Rumph quickly becoming one of the worst recruiters on staff and being outworked by the competition.
