Rumph to UM

I'm okay with Rumph coming in as essentially "half" a DB coach. I don't think Hartley will coach safeties directly, so I still believe we hire a more experienced safeties coach to oversee the defensive backfield. I've already posted my preferred choice. We'll see.

If it was for DB....which only makes sense then I absolutely am not a fan of the move. How has hiring high school coaches worked for us in the past? It's a gamble, hope it pays off, but I would have felt more comfortable with an experienced college DB coach.

Rumph is a rising star in the profession. I don't know if you can compare him to Beard or Hurley.

With all do respect, Ice was "a rising star" as well.

No ice wasn't.

Head coach of multiple high school national championships....but ya my bad....you're right.

And what precisely does that have to do or how does it relate to being a rising star as a position coach in college football? Nothing he did at booker t crossed over with him to the college level except relating to kids. Another wards he was a natural rb coach.

So this must mean Hartley will probably coach the safety position to go along with special teams coordinators. Also if you go by Todd Hartley recent follows Larry Scott is at the top of the list so it could be safe to assume he is back although it hasn't been announced yet

Can he be worse than the last guy that coached DBs? I think he is better than him Day 1.

True, miami has upgraded in a major way at every position. Excited to see how this affects the team

Gus the bus was a HC coach for a long time.

And? Jeremy Pruitt was NEVER a HS HC.

Yes but he was GA at Bama, coached in HS for almost 10 years, then worked as the Director of Player Development for 3 years. This was all before he coached DBs for the first time.

Another bad example. This guy had a ton of experience, then Nick Saban choose to promote him from DPD after 3 seasons.

DB Coach #1 can you teach techinique..... #2 can you identify talent...thats all i care about

an dhonestly i dont know which one is first

Another blah hire.

Same retards defending it.

I swear, I don't get it. No one can have standards. It is not a logicial argument that Chad Morris came from HS so everyone who comes from HS will have success.

That's why I have been barely posting anymore.

It's the same crap all over again. You question a single hire/aspect of Richt's regime, then the same posters (mostly ex-Golden supporters, but they'll pretend they weren't) and **** hits the fan.

Really tired of the cult-like mentality when it comes to Miami football. No objectivity. Just blind homerism.

You should see the Blake James thread from yesterday. If you're looking for a reason to Budd Dwyer, read the chit below.

So now it's "ton of experience"? How about Major Applewhite...left Texas in 01', College OC by 06'.

Helen Keller in her current state would be an upgrade over the prior staff. That would be the lowest bar ever set.

Richt has won 145 games. I think the guy knows what he is doing.
