Rumph to UM

So every position coach needs to have started as a GA?

At the Div 1 level? I'd say it's a no brainer genius. Do you ******* clowns even know what goes into coaching at the college level? It's a ******* grind to the bone. 100 hour work weeks and ****. I'd prefer my position coaches to understand and flourish in that role before coaching at UM.

Has he ever had to sit in a living room and convince a kid to come to a **** school? Has he ever had to communicate and deliver a game plan to kids at this level? Has he ever had to sit in a meeting room and discuss the merits of a particular recruit and why he should or shouldn't be offered? Has he ever failed, succeeded or honed in his instruction skills that are required for this level. This isn't ******* high school anymore boys. I'd prefer my position coaches have already gone through those growing pains before they reach our level. It's common ******* sense.

It's not just "Hey bro....you need a little more bend in your knees in your back pedal". The nuances of coaching at this level are enormous.

IIRC, I acknnowledged you being right about this situation in another thread later on, specifically naming you as being right about Rumph and knowing better than me so whatever...good for you. You know more about sports than RVA.

I wasn't calling you out specifically RVA, you were just quoted by default.

Oh, ok.... Sorry. I feel better. I already took the L for it. You were right about this. gogeta4 was right about Rumph too though he was coming from a perspective of Rumph specifically won't work out how we hope based on what he knew about Rumph. You just knew he wasn't likely going to make the jump and succeed based on his lack of training on the college level.

Now what are we gonna do???

Just some of the talented local kids known loser Mike Rumph has had tell him to fvck his own face in two short years.

This isn't the NFL. He's a good coach but he can't recruit for ****. He's awful. Dreadful. We can find another decent DB coach on the technical side of things that recruits don't remark has "an incredibly punchable face" and "breath like kitty litter."

To miss on this many local guys -- especially on some from your own former school -- that HE coached, is inexcusable and embarrassing. This guy is a ****ing clown. Fire him right now and hire someone, anyone else. Maybe the new DB coach can come in and undo all the upper decker's Rumph was leaving in recruit's toilets.

I'm not sure if he's asking recruit's parents to pull his finger on in-homes or is just a flat out *******, but it's obvious he's pretty weird and unlikable and he needs to get the **** outta here.

Byun-Yung Rumph can't close and is preventing us from making a leap into the elite tier of programs by driving away top talent. I mean the **** guy can't even land kids he's coached since middle school for God's sake. A KNOWN TACTIC IN RECRUITING IS TO HIRE A HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH ON YOUR STAFF TO LAND A RECRUIT(S) THAT PLAY FOR HIM. He can't even do that. This loser must have to pay for *** constantly if he's this bad of a closer in real life.

Please, fire Rumph immediately. Let him go to some other program and spend his last calls asking girls if they want to come back to his house and see his iguana collection, ****ing terrible closing nerd.

You can add the ugly belly kid in '16 to that list. In three years, the number of highly-targeted CBs we've missed on is absurd. Luckily, in South Florida, even your second-tier CB options are usually excellent prospects.

Rumph is certainly a good Xs and Os coach. But he'd be better off in the NFL where he doesn't need to sell/recruit.

It must be Monday as another thread tearing down the Miami Football Program is being enjoyed by the typical CIS'ers. This blog has been kidnapped by those who NEVER start a thread with a positive bent.

Several weeks into the off season after posting a 10 & 3 record, being crowned Coastal Division Champions, playing in the Orange Bowl after nearly 15 years of having none of those things and the haters are whining and suggesting that Richt, Diaz, Rumph and others are failures and should be fired.

This blog and others like it are not for fans of the Miami Hurricanes Athletic Programs, but they offer a platform to haters who spew hate, lies, half-truths and unadulterated stupidity. I guarantee you that fans from competing programs don't say things anything worse about the Canes than the 'supposed' fans on this blog post on a daily basis.

Coaches/recruiters from Bama, Florida, FSU and other programs would be fools not to tell the recruits and their parents that are considering Miami to read this blog. Those coaches/recruiters could speak until they were blue in the face and not even broach the countless reasons the 'supposed' Miami fans offer as to why Canes football is a disaster led by a bunch of unqualified baboons.

Offering thoughtful critiques or criticism is fair and should be voiced. But, when it comes in the form of hate, lies, half-truths designed to damage the program that is not acceptable. Moreover, once these hate fests start they gain momentum as each successive poster tries to out hate the previous poster believing doing so somehow garners respect.

Even the very few times a thread begins with a positive observation the normal suspects elbow their way into the conversation to offer a....wait a minute! Then go off on a rant how wrong the positive thoughts are.

I'm a lifelong fan, become disappointed and angry at times when seeing mistakes that could have been avoided, but don't use a public blog as my psychiatric sofa to unleash my pent-up anger about my life's issues and failings by blaming coaches and kids of a football team.

We can fire him, but he’ll just go to an SEC school and start cleaning up

Exactly...kids just aren't feeling UM again yet I guess...well, some are bc we pulled a massive offensive elite haul this class, some very solid DBs, a very good LB, and by the look of it some stud D line croots :monkey-serious:

Fire Mike Rumph? What if those players just didn't want to play in Miami. ****, I hate the place and that's why I moved years ago. South Fl has the worst fan base in any sport at any level.

Our fans..........wow!
Stfu ****! You left south fl. Cause you’re a nobody and no one liked you. You’re not even a real fan so shhhhhhh.......

Doubt he gets canned (although there's definitely an argument for it). I wonder how many passes he will get. What's the breaking point?

Maybe when a true Freshman QB from PITT, in his first start ever shreds his CB's on the regular on our way to a loss. Ooops

shredded? 193 yards, 1 wr over 36 yards
maybe if Miami had a d1 qb that day, we win by 27
Exactly! We got beat cause our QB sucked @ss , d!ck sucker cane!

We're NEVER going to get ALL of the best talent in South Florida and it has nothing to do with our record and who are coaches are. NEVER Some will always get away

There are simply too many elite programs competing for the area known as the nation's best source of recruits. 1st of all, not enough scholarships, also many of these recruits already have family ties to other schools, many want to get out of the area, and for many Miami is simply not the best school for their particular circumstances academically or playing wise etc etc.

Let's stop this non sense about completely locking down an area. We NEVER did even when Schellenberger or Davis was here. Even then many great South Florida HS players opted to go elsewhere. No program anywhere does that ( gets ALL the best in state talent ) not even LSU, Bama, USC or OSU does it. They all lose players to other schools regardless of their record or coaches.

The best we can hope for is to continually get our share of the best in South Florida and recently we've been doing that. Our coaches are happy with our haul to date and so am I.

So unless you're suggesting that Rumph or any other Miami coach kidnap them and then make them sign at gunpoint....it ain't gonna happen

tell that to the offensive side of the staff

compare our WR recruiting to our DB for the previous 2 and next 3 years

Posters aren't tired of the next year line. Next year there are 2 more 5 star dbs and we will not land either. They seem to be allergic to Miami.
If Rumph lands another good but not elite crop of dbs next year will he get another pass from the masses? It's obvious that staff changes are needed but I don't think Richt has the stones to do what's necessary to reach an elite level. Count me in the group that believe the TC ship sailed a long time ago but I am absolutely intrigued with the possibility of Surtain.

Thank you Earnest! Someone needed to say it!

To OP and just about everyone else on this thread:

1. Rumph had people talking about Michael Jackson as an all-ACC cornerback before the last couple of games (which included when Malek Young went down on the other side and many less throws went towards Jackson for the rest of the season). Can one of you recruiting history buffs remind me how many stars MJ had out of high school? By the way, another guy (from FSWho) who actually was picked by everybody preseason to be not just all-ACC but all-American, finished exactly where MJ did on the all-ACC second team (and he got beat one-on-one by Darrel Langham on a game-winning play at home). Could CB coaching have been the difference in this comparison?

2. We were already really thin at CB this year in case you missed it, that was presumably the reason that the defensive coordinator (and not the CB coach) called so much soft zone coverage (that Pitt, Clemson and Wisconsin ate up, if you were still watching Canes football by then).

3. When I first read this thread I thought I missed some major recruiting news about Campbell or Surtain. Last I checked they hadn’t signed with anyone yet (please correct me if I’m wrong on that).

4. The sky is not falling.

We had some pretty big misses at WR last year

Well he was a true Freshman QB right? This is the same reason Perry didn’t start over Rosier bc he “wasn’t ready”. Interesting that The D couldn’t keep an inept Pitt offense from scoring in the last min of the half. Perhaps that Barrios garbage TD would in 4th qtr may have been relevant.

It’s not always about stats but how a team makes plays at the right time. Like scrambling on a naked bootleg for a TD against our vaulted Diaz D. What about a true Freshman WR catching 3 TDs?
