Ruiz / NIL

Seems like a fair piece. It's not what anyone wants to hear, but that's life. Ruiz is an interesting character to say the least and exactly the very definition of nouveau riche. We'll see if he can still be considered such down the road and I'm not even sure he is at this point. Lots of smoke and mirrors I've always felt.

Ruiz is definitely in trouble. Hopefully our NIL has a strong collective or a lot of other guys involved can’t lose steam

He is not a fraud but his model hinges on winning in court and / or getting settlements from some major insurance carriers that are in hurry to settle. He has had some significant wins at the appellate level but these lawsuits could get dragged out for who knows how long. In the meantime, they are seeing very little revenue from some smaller carriers. The question will be how long can he fund operations waiting for the legal victories. These carriers will not settle until they are about to lose in court or he gets desperate enough to accept some significantly reduced amounts. His other problem is that once he collects whatever he is going to collect then what. he needs to create other significant recurring revenues which is why he has gotten into the lifewallet concept. 🤷‍♂️

Ruiz and his partners paid around 260 million cash to take over the SPAC, a backdoor way to an IPO.
His personal wealth is not at risk..Considering the number of shares awarded to his group plus shares available in the marketplace, the immediate drop in the original price was reflecting the true value of the company. There are always struggles for companies going public for the first time.
I susoect the low price might cause them to do a reverse split in order to stay listed .
We shall see what happens.

The article was very even handed and well written. No hit job whatsoever.

The author opened up a now public discussion about Ruiz’ business. Fair enough. I’m guessing more to come from a whole variety of journalists.

Did anything ever get resolved over the claim he donated to George Santos fake company??

Miami New Times is not the Wall Street Journal. That said, seems like a lot of the info stated is public record & easily verified. Little worried that the university/athletic program seems heavily reliant on the success of his venture.
Our fans love to take narratives and run with them. Just because the other NIL voices aren’t talking doesn’t mean they don’t exist. You really think that Rad is relying on ONE guy for NIL?

Are you seeing companies in SoFla using Miami athletes for their businesses?? I live in part of Ohio that gets Cbus TV and see a lot of commercials with players. Just seems Ohio St is taking full advantage of NIL opportunities for their athletes.
