Ruiz family attempting to build a stadium in Coral Gables...

50K of South Florida’s loudest is more than enough to make **** go OB. Especially if acoustics are incorporated into the engineering. It’d sound like 80K.
That’s my biggest beef about leaving HRS. The loudness is different. I was at Doak for the Canes game and it was not very loud, at all. Our games are louder.

This guy screams "New Money" and "Wants to be loved at any cost". Honestly, it's starting to scare me, because it smells like a guy that may be a wannabe if the money isn't right. I think the money is right in his case, but you never know. I hope that he is the goods, but I'm not going to act that thoughts haven't come up. He's playing to the crowd hardcore, and the gullible ones are buying it. We all know that building a stadium in Coral Gables is **** near impossible, for multiple reasons. Barring some of South Miami getting levelled by an act of God, there's not a way to build a quality stadium directly adjacent to campus. If you aren't building it within easy walking distance of campus, then what's the point?

Anyone with two working eyes and any knowledge of the City of Coral Gables knows that building a stadium on the CGHS site is a nonstarter. Never mind the fact that the high school isn't directly adjacent to campus, so logistics would be a mess. 1.4 miles is a solid hike. Odds are people aren't going to want to walk that distance from their tailgating spots, so you will need to buy out additional parcels for parking and other things. Never mind the issues with getting to the stadium. Imagine being an alum that lives in Broward or WPB trying to get down to CG for a game. US-1 is a parking lot on a great day. Imagine trying to get in and out through all of those side streets and stop lights.

Honestly, what Ruiz should do is take that money and pour it into the on campus facilities. Let's get the last 20 yards of the Soffer IPF added(Get the school to sign off on the IPF taking some of the IM fields. Let's improve the Schwartz Center further. Let's team with the Dolphins to have a Hurricane exclusive locker room at Hard Rock. That's a better use of resources, instead of trying to build a stadium, just to shut up dumbasses in Trailerhassee.

Building a new high school, which probably costs $300M would be a start to satisfy those in Coral Gables.

Money always wins, you just need the right amount.
300 million plus, PLUS the stadium, plus probably being asked to pay for the infrastructure improvements needed to make the stadium worth a ****. We are talking about well over a billion, and that's before you have to buy out some of the parcels around the stadium, so you have onsite parking and other logistical spaces.

Do we need a stadium or just a team that wins?

Just some additional info here….

Michael Mena, Vice Mayor of Coral Gables and city commissioner is a partner at Ruiz’s law firm. He’s a rabid cane fan and was a super active poster on Grassy for a long time. Frank Quesada is about to be worth 7B in the same deal as Ruiz, is also a partner and also a former coral gables city commissioner. The more I think about this, the politics may be doable.

It generates buzz and right now, that's gold.

Wow. This scares you? No billionaire is new money.

Buy the Dolphins

You have to understand the sliding scale as it pertains to crowd noise.

50,000 drunk Miami fans at a ranked night game equals about 90,000 Midwest folks. My first Miami game was 2001 Washington. Felt like it was played in a penitentiary.

Whether this happens or not, excited that we have boosters with pockets this deep thinking like this.

Also, this seems like a good leak/bit of news (intended?) to counter all the negative leaks we've had to listen to over the past two weeks.
3 months ago we were questioning the future of this program because everything looked bleak. Today this new regime is talking about bringing a new AD, new HC and new stadium. The fact that we even have a booster entertaining building a stadium out of his pockets is a breath of fresh air. Slightly unrealistic, but I welcome the ambition.
