Ruiz family attempting to build a stadium in Coral Gables...

If this happens, would we still use Hard Rock for the big games where tickets will need to far exceed 50k? Also, as much as I’d like this stadium to look like an OB replica (with modern amenities of course), I’d think having the canopy similar to Hard Rock is the way to go. Crowd noise is crazy there even with smaller crowds.

Just some additional info here….

Michael Mena, Vice Mayor of Coral Gables and city commissioner is a partner at Ruiz’s law firm. He’s a rabid cane fan. Frank Quesada is about to be worth 7B in the same deal as Ruiz, is also a partner and also a former coral gables city commissioner. The more I think about this, the politics may be doable.

Interesting, but it's hard to imagine Coral Gables, the "City Anal Retentive" as it has been dubbed, going along with the idea. Bringing all that traffic and riff-raff into their perfectly controlled domain.
They connection needed to get the approval just chill with all that hard to imagine crap.. we had people running this university who didn't care about football.. now we got new money stepping things up so long mediocrity 🤩🤩🤩

Move West Lab, right off US1 and next to Metro….whatever. Doubt it happens, but if your moving a school that makes more sense than CGHS. That would be a nightmare with Bird Rd and the residential density.
The parcel West Lab sits on isn't nearly large enough to build anything resembling a decent stadium. I would know because I lived in a house right off Granada throughout Undergrad, Grad and Law School. We used to run routes in that giant field across from West Lab. Never mind the fact that you have environmental features that would also make it unlikely. That waterway cannot be diverted or touched, due to the manatees that utilize it as a habitat. You would need to buy out all those houses over there and try to build on the other side of Granada. Those houses are easily 1 million plus on the market right now. Once you get those parcels, then you'd have to pay for building, you'd have to pay the City of CG for the infrastructure improvements, and that's why you are talking about a billion dollar investment. I don't know if a guy worth 20 billion is going to give up that much for one project, especially one that may require more than that billion, especially if you have to buy politicians and media sources.
