Roster Adjustment- Post Spring

Kirk - was this a poor eval by Zo and the staff?
Redding - nice locker room guy, but time to move on
Logan S - not D1 caliber
Denis - will never contribute
Zion - time to politely ask him to move on/retire
Campbell/Gore - we can't have them eating up 2 spots. Keep whoever is better of those two
Freeney - same as Kirk, had some buzz coming in but has done absolutely nothing
Balom - We convinced him to come back...why? Time to move on
Markeith Williams - if he can't get it going this spring, might be time to move on
Bruh I don't even think Campbell started at ULM. Never understood that move.

Looking at the current number of scholarship players on the roster + commits arriving in the summer. Here are the numbers

QB (5)
RB (6)
WR (10)
TE (5)
OL (18)
DT (10)
DE (11)
LB (9)
CB (8)
S (7)
Specialists (3)

That's a total of 91 players that could possibly be here. We will need to trim 6 to get to the 85 scholarship limit and then also 1 for every transfer that we are going to take. Assuming that we go after at least 3 players (RB & 2x DB) we will have to lose 9.

QB - possibly 1 of the guys that ends up 3/4th string
WR - possibly Redding or Kirk if they're looking to find playing time
OL - need to drop 3 and get down to 15. Denis, Sagopolo and maybe someone like Tripp. Obviously this depends on how they perform in the spring. I really don't think that Cristobal should be on scholarship
DL - 21 I'd too much to carry into the season. Wasn't happy about them taking Daylan Russell on scholarship because of this (hopefully he makes me eat those words) Players like Gore & Campbell need to really prove that they deserve to be in the rotation or move on.
LB - I think 9 is a fine number
DB - Balom is the only one that I see here that we can afford to lose. 14 is not enough to go into the season. Isaiah Taylor as a walk on helps, but Thomas will be on the shelf for this year, so that's a wash.

It's going to be interesting who stays and goes and what the roster looks like when we open against the Gators. Overall talent is night and day from 3 years ago though
Think we’ll drop Zion too. IMO Doesn’t sound like he has much of a chance of playing again.

As long as JB doesnt transfer I'm good. Cam coming here was perfect for him in every way. He going to be a stud next year, and I would hate for it to be for another team.

Methinks if Poff stays he may have something to say about that...........Poff is a dog looking for a bone....a grinder

drop the pfenniger or w.e. his name is now w cam ward and emory and brown healthy
Lol I think you mean Poffo. Pfenny hasn't been on the roster for a while. Poffo is going to be the #2 QB so no probably not a great idea to send him packing right after he transferred in.

Please send all discards to my Ragin Cajuns. We down bad over here. Thad Franklin at ULM. I’ll welcome any canes here in Lafayette!

1 QB leaves- whoever finished 3rd
2 WR leave- Kirk and Redding
3-4 OL leave- Sagapolo, Denis, Zion and one more
2 DL- Campbell, Gore, Malik Bryant or Moten
1 LB leaves
2 DB's- Balom and Freeney

Total 11-12 players for 5 portal players to come in WR, CB, S, RB, DT

Its quite easy to trim our roster, but for some reason people get attached to trash players too easily I could have easily name 5-10 more guys who could leave and I would not flinch an inch.
Cold blooded!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: but completely accurate. Zion is literally 1st in line.

Love Poff but JB is barely scratching the surface of what he can be. Poff is pretty much a finished product
Bo Nix is about to go in the first round

Big JB fan as well way too early to write him off, though admittedly he has a lonnnnng way to go of course

I saw him look much better in the bowl game. He made some really good throws. I was surprised

He seems like a quality kid, hard worker, tough, huge arm, athletic

Might take a long time but it’s not a bad skill set to work with that’s for sure
