he basically said Butch was the 2nd choice not schiano. it sounded like butch had all the support, richt opened up and blew it out of the water. romberg also said he is hungry. former players are happy. sounds like vinny pushed for him. Vilma likes him.

intersting, Mario Cristobal never got an interview and was not considered. all these reporters are so full of crap like i told u guys. they lied push him.

LETS GO Baby

What I like is that they did a few weeks of real due diligence and then interviewed 5 guys. Chud is what we all suspected, an NFL guy with zero interest in returning to UM. At least right now.

If true, I would say the only flaw I perceive in the search is not pursuing Herman, but they said from the top they wanted a HC with a proven track record, and Herman is just getting started. And for that matter it is possible they did through private channels and we may never know about it.

Mario was always the name people "assumed" would be in play. Miami ties, works at a big time program, etc. The problem is, when you actually look at the bigger picture, it becomes abundantly clear that he's a horrible candidate.

Agree. I never minded waiting. Just wanted them to make a great hire. Never thought we would do as well as Richt though.

Herman would have killed it here, but my guess is that he probably told us from the jump that he wasn't interested

he also made it sound like no one was into Mullen lol shciano never came up.

Who was the 5th candidate?

Richt, Mullen, Schiano, Butch, and ???

Richt could have taken a cushy college town job with no expectations (UVA, Mizz) or even have sat the year out to cool off. Instead he took the job that was going to turn heads as far as the fit and the renewed financial commitment that is being shown. He wants to win, and shove it up his doubters @ss in the most christian way possible.

romberg said he is hungry

I like to think all the anti-Mario sentiment from the actual fanbase caused his courtesy interview to be cancelled. Again, he choose his path. Go capitalize on all that Bama cred you have big boy. We don't need to be doing him any favors.

It was gonna be Butch players were even notified then Richt happen

Are you implying the University of Miami extended an offer to Butch Davis, he accepted, players were notified, and then they scrapped those plans because Richt became available?

DMoney said Davis. Then suddenly that changed because Richt came into the picture. This completely jives with what Romberg said. Davis was number one until Richt flew in and pushed him down. I feel really bad for Butch. I know he wanted it bad. It does make me feel better that Chimp was not actually number 2.
