On if he play the young quarterbacks against Savannah State on Saturday: “We’ll treat it that way at every position. We want to play as many guys as we can. There were some young guys that have gotten in the game this past week and some that didn’t get in the game that we do want to get in there. We’re going to find a way to have a game plan to get those guys playing time. they need playing time.
“You know, the game against LSU is probably not the best way to break in kids from high school into that type of a situation. Some of them had to play. Some of them were really ready. Some were not quite so ready and they had to get in their anyway.

This sounds encouraging and shows that Rosier is in a short leash. Understandable that he does not want to start the young dudes vs LSU D. If we continue to see Perry /Weldon getting snaps against the scrubs over the next four games we might see them permenantly soon🙏🏻

I’m not worried about this. Richt is not a dummy. By the time we get into the meat of conference play I’m confident rosier will be riding pine. Anytime richt spoke about the QB situation this offseason he said malik will have to play well to keep his job. And he hasnt. Just let it play out

Unless I see practice vids this week of Malik taking a rep or two with the 4s and fetching water for the rest of the team, I'm not gonna get my hopes up about Richt handling the QB situation correctly for these upcoming cupcakes.

Unfortunately, I think he is just speaking in generalities, and not specifically to any given player/position, especially QB.

If he trots Malik on the field for the first snaps, it is going to be welcomed with a long sustained "boo" from our crowd.

Rosier knew he had advantage last year because he was a 4th year guy and played in games. Plus Perry and Weldon were true freshman.

Not this year. Its a clean slate. CMR is a tactician and a mind ***** pro. He named Rosier the starter early to give him confidence to play well. It backfired. Same old Malik. And its year two for Perry and Weldon so CMR is not handcuffed by Malik and can start to insert the young pups.

Rosier may start but you guys have to start looking past the coach speak. They see what we see. Change is being considered.

Serious question. Do some people really expect a coach to walk out there and say: Look, 12, yeah, that fool trash and I know it. He can pack his bags now.....

Naw, a coach cannot do that. He will use words and phrases like examine film, look at the situation, and make a determination. EVERYTHING we have read this year and heard (remember the sit down with Holly Rowe and Maria Taylor) tells us Richt basically prayed Cade or Kosi would step up and force his hand to make the change. They could and did not. I'm all for giving the other guys a shot at this point but you have to be disappointed that the 'game' was rigged for them to ascend and neither could. Lets hope once they get some game action they do enough to force his hands then....

And no, I would not have thrown Jarren out there against LSU either. You want that kid to succeed long term.

How is it elite programs all over the country are breaking in freshman in big games? I say theres mo better way to break them in. Either were not recruiting good enough freshmen or the coaching isn't good enough to get them ready to be broken into a game like Sunday.

I think he has to put Rosier out there first, but I also think we'll see all the QB's. I wouldn't be surprised if they each played a whole quarter.
Why does he have to put out there first? I completely disagree that he "has" to start Malik.

Two things:

1) I am underwhelmed with Richt's response and fire on the show. Ok, it was at 630am... and Joe Rose was throwing softballs, but still come out there and say without beating around the bush (he did say these things in a round-about way):

"We, as coaches ****ed up, and did not prepare adequately, and the QB position will be re-evaluated over the next 4 weeks with other players getting playing time."

He said that in a very beat around the bush way with no conviction but I don't think I have any conviction at 6:30am either...

2) Richt going up against LSU with a QB with double digit starts, including big games, was the *SMART* thing to do. I agree. I am a pragmatist and engineer, and using basic reasoning skills says this is the correct method which gives the BEST chance at victory.

I do think if Kosi dressed there would have been a shorter leash as Richt, playing as the thinking man, probably sees Kosi as the most polished second option. Richt played that game as if he had ONE scholarship QB, and in his eyes in Dallas, he did. He did't want to risk Williams and obv Cade couldn't give us a better chance to win, so he though this was the best way to make the game not get ugly quickly.

HOWEVER, that game is overwith, and if MULTIPLE BACKUP QB's do not get 1st team reps the next three weeks, I am going to start the GofundMe for some ******* banners.

It's time everyone gets out of their feelings. Malik will start and if he continues to be the starter then it's on Perry, not CMR.

No, I wanted him to say there will be a open competition and we'll be playing 2 Quarterbacks like Bama did last week.

I wish I shared your enthusiasm and confidence.

But Richt put himself in this situation given that he gave Malik all of the 1st team reps over in the Spring and Fall camps. The other 3 QBs are going to have to get chemistry down with the WR/TEs.

First of all if Perry or Weldon isn't ready then it's his son's fault. Second why didn't Richt try and bring in a Grad transfer?

Sometimes you just gotta roll the dice at some point. I will never forget when Bama played TAMU in Manziels second year and Mike Evans was toasting the Bama secondary the entire 1st quarter..you know what Saban did? He literally emptied his entire CB roster until he found someone who could cover Evans. The analysts were joking about it. He went to his 4th CB and finally found someone who stopped Evans.

That's what you have to do sometimes. Take a chance! Get out of your comfort zone! This is the time to do it! Tell Rosier/Cade/Perry/Jarron that for the next few games there will be 2 QBs who get 75% of the snaps and try to find out whos the best one. If its Rosier then so be it. But we are on a 4 game losing streak right now. We have to take a chance at some point.

(And check my record, I was a HUGE Rosier apologists all summer. Not anymore. You can let me off right here at the next stop because I'm off his bandwagon)
