Richt has been a phenomenal success...

This is unlike the 2012 draft when guys like Streeter and B. Wash had zero business going pro early. Didnt Forston forgo his 5th year?

These kids have something to play for next season and a chance to get better under a real coach. That hasn't been the case for many. many years at this school.

It's all about trust. Way easier to trust a coach than a used car salesman...

Then you had the train wreck where Duke Johnson's mom came out and said (I am paraphrasing) "If these kids didn't have to sit out a year most would transfer". Where did we go wrong and make Miami such a dumpster fire? Where players wanted to get out rather in? Wasn't just Folden he added fuel to the fire. Normally would have called Dalvin Cook & Amari Cooper "Benedict Arnold". I did this with Marvin Jones and Samari Rolle. Can you blame a kid not wanting to hedge his future on Al Golden? What would say as his father?

Remember Arthur Brown the stud LB from Kansas his brother was supposed to commit as well? A 5 star player who couldn't even get on the field with Shannon (a defensive guru supposedly!) Then he goes back to Bill Snyder at KSU and becomes a very solid/serviceable player. A 5 star talent? No but serviceable. More than a special teamer.

Question does anyone know how many games Sam Shields stared when healthy/eligible? Was he a starting corner under Shannon? Need to look it up.

I know I am bringing up some bad memories and old war wounds . What do they say "when things turn around you can laugh about them later!"

We are on our way.

He was every bit the five star player.

Won Defensive Player of the Year in the Big XII and was a first team All-American. Guy was a stud.

Lol

You're wound like a top. Go put your helmet back on before you hurt yourself.

Good post Chise - nice to see the program in good enough hands that astute long term followers of the team can take joy in this team again. So far Richt is doing what many hoped would happen for a long time. SEC level staff, revamping S&C, keeping talented guys from leaving too soon. The last 2 bums were able to close strong in January after getting hired so I assume Richt will be able to do the same, especially since he's got a headstart with the list already committed and the relationships he built from the top 20 class he'd built at UGA. If he doesn't close this class out with 5-10 solid additions I will be pretty shocked, and in all honesty the 2 deep already looks good enough to win 10+ games next year.

Well there you have it!! Trying to minimize the fact that Randy Shannon was clueless but that seals the deal!! Not in NFL correct?

Yes Fortson did forgo his remaining eligibility. That turned out to be a disaster! But cudos for Richt for getting these guys back? Are they preseason ranked in the top 25? I say no even though the Richt factor does add to the intrigue.

Will be one of the most anticipated seasons in Miami history and that is saying something. Fans can't get too high and low as there will be great moments and no so great moments. It is a work in process. I believe Richt cleans up in S Florida in 2017 after recruiting for a full year. We will see a top 10 final ranking at season's end wouldn't be a miracle!

Our depth at WR is horrendous next year. Very happy Coley is back.

The terrorist? No business what so ever going pro. Glad Elder is back. I suspect you see Byrd and Elder starting by the end of next year opposite each other.

I also want to see what the long term statements from players are about actually having a S&C program with coaches that have legit credentials and their impact on the team is going forward. Ya ya ya the political bull**** aside my mind is simply blown that we had a guy who didn't have the BASIC certs.

Chise you workin without a law degree bud? Rhetorical....**** no. My mind is simply....wow.....I digress

The culture change is going to be stunning. Richt basically came in and flamethrower'ed the entire dump. Who fires a secretary? Richt. Love it.

redwine will have alot to say about that jackson also. redwine to me is underrated

Right it had nothing to with the fact that they were not going to go in the early rounds or in AQM's case not even drafted at all? Sure. When is Dalvin Cook coming Franchise?

I think the point is that Golden could not talk his juniors to scary even though they also were not going to go in the early rounds.

Did Brandon Washington, Tommy Streeter, Marcus Fortson, etc go high in the draft?
It's been awhile, I can't recall.

That's exactly the point. When golden came in dudes with no business leaving left. Richt is keeping guys who at least know they'll be drafted.

Good post Franchise.

The word that keeps coming up for me is "accountability". It's something our staff hasn't had in 5 years. Not one coach on this staff had been doing an exemplary job, to varying degrees of course, but regardless to come into a failing situation and have the balls and confidence in your own abilities to completely clean house despite the fickle South Florida community, was very impressive.

The players knew the best they could do with another season under Golden is to avoid injury.

I think cleaning house should have been a no brainer, but you're dead on about accountability. Other than al, I can't recall a single coach getting fired despite year after year of embarrassing performances. When your team fails to improve and nobody loses a job, it's kinda hard to talk about accountability.

It's amazing to read from some fans how the returning players are the modern day equivalent of Carlo Joseph. Yeah, they may not have been future first rounders this upcoming draft but they are quality guys who in due time I think have a chance to have long NFL careers. Those are the building blocks of successful programs. I don't discount this trio coming back one bit

To paraprhase Rick Pitino,"Daniel Stubbs, Reggie Wayne and Antrell Rolle arent walking through that door." Id argue that the trio of Coley, AQM and Corn are among three of the top ten players on this team. Yeah, they kinda matter and IMO, the promise that Richt brings aided in their decisions to return
