Rewatched the Indiana game yesterday

Our issue this game was we were scared of our own shadow on offense in the first half. The plays being discussed here were 100% impactful as well but we gave a half away while our defense was out there more than handling its own against an offense that destroyed everyone else but Taint that year.

Like you mentioned after the block kick, it forced us to actually open up out of shell and actually unshackle the offense, idk why we are soo scared of tempo if it will work. We get a first down on critical 3rd and 15 conversion and we go tempo and line up in Briles Veer and shoot 2x2 spread to sideline and the tempo didnt allow their defense to reset and we have our biggest play of game with Mali in space. Even with bauman on field you see the strain something like goin in a 4 wiiiide formation causes on their defense.. I have it cued up

Took us being down 2 scores and in the 4th before we could just say **** it and start gutting them.. Sad.. I heard oline pass blocking isnt up to par and we will run block better this year tho so thats exciting.. Duo here we come!!!

Cignetti waiting til the radios cut out so Hetherman couldnt alert D and not have enough time to get attention and signal it in is just like dam, tip of the cap.. We got killed on draws last year, hope Hetherman has better plan this season..
 
Tempo should be a part of our offensive DNA; early in games and slow it down strategically.

Hopefully we see more of it this season.

Its like we wanted to win the game 3-0 and when IU started taking off, we said alright the first half of season gameplan isnt working again, time to play loose like 2nd half of season when they had that slogan or whatever they call it.. We paid them too much respect in first half, on both sides of ball, I never seen a cover 3 bail 10+ yards in redzone.. Belicheck and Saban were like tighten that **** up at halftime, they were diesgusted, lol.. But atleast I guess you have excuse of Lucas being out..

True but then isn’t it kind of what we are complaining about on offense?

Our defense liked to go wide and create tons of chaos. Leaves you vulnerable to the draw

So be more conservative on defense and abandon what worked so well? I know you’re not saying that but where’s the line?

I rarely see this mentioned but on the play before Scott’s iconic pick 6 Sayin missed a WIDE OPEN TE standing right in front of him in the end zone because he panicked just a bit. 14 point swing in two plays

We should be elite up the middle this year especially with a healthy Moten

Word out of camp is oline pass blocking is behind and we will have to run more, doubt they tempo with oline unsettled..

I understood what we did on defense in the first half, with Lucas out we were thin at corner.

It was the offense that drove me mad. Like you said, same ole run plays that clearly weren’t working and no passes more than 7 yards down field. It was easy pickings for a talented and disciplined IU defense.

Lol :ROFLMAO: I see your point but what I meant was stating the obvious stuff: no blocked punt, no back shoulder passes, no Mendoza 4th down QB draw, Beck INT at the end, etc.

I had no issues with them being in wide 9 alignment if thats what you mean, its more not being alert on 3rd and medium, not really a pin your ears back and distance, draws are typical in those scenarios and you have alerts for screen and draws.. on that play you could see it coming and I know I watched all their games but I know the staff now their tendencies better than all of us.. Heck Hetherman was on staff with those guys and I am sure the reason they broke huddle late..

Im pretty sure Hetherman said he saw it also but couldnt get D attention.. I would like my 4th year and 10 year LB on field to also know the down and distance and be ready for the play, one of them should of keyed that ****.. sigh..

Dont mind me in threads like this, game just ****es me off.. Waiting 20+ years of sucking while people try to pump sunshine on program while we sink into abyss, we were dam close to being where we should be.. Cant take opportunities like that for granted, sucks.. On to 2026

Yeah I was more just thinking out loud not disagreeing because you’re right

I remember the one crippler against Louisville when it was like 3rd and 15 and they ran a draw. When you saw the alignment I swear you could heard Brohm say “got em” before the ball was snapped

I'm breaking your balls cuz this game gets me salty asf. You completely omitted the part that once Cignetti's computers ran out of data and he had to actually coach, we kicked their ***. Then Bauman.

I don't want to bang the drum of Cignetti cheating to the point where it becomes a dog whistle, but I'm not going to believe that a decent G5 coach can turn an all time schidt team into a national power in only two years, while his assistant coaches brag about how awesome it is to only have a 45-50 hour work week. It REAKS. They're fuccin cheating.
