Revamping the site

The ability to ignore users with article writing access would be a welcome QOL upgrade for me
Absolutely this. Too many articles on the message boards. Its cluttered, hard to find ****, and kills long term discussions when you have 7 articles on the same player.

If we cant have an articles sub forum where they all go, then give users the ability to "ignore" the article writers.

While I love what you are doing for these kids with your intro to sports journalism CIS crash course I think you should organize the articles and curated CIS content to be separate from the user threads entirely.

If I want traditional news content Ill find it wherever it is located on the site. If I only want to digest the incoherent ramblings of the loveable idiots on the site then thats my prerogative.

Respectfully, dont clutter up the site with poorly written enc1101 news essays from teenagers that rehash everything I already know from watching, subscribing, and liking the youtube content.

No articles on the message boards. People can create a post about one if they think it’s worth discussing (many, no offense to the kids, are not).

Idk why, but this is a thing on all CFB forums. When you post an article that’s long enough to have “continue reading…” at the bottom it opens a new page and changes the format of the comments section until you click “view as thread” again. If it could just expand the writing and keep in the “view as thread” formatting that would probably be cleaner.

App: Should mirror the website. For example, if I am on my computer and finish reading a thread on page 8 and then a few hours later I'm using the app on my phone, I don't want to start all over again on page 1 of that same thread. Just take me to where I left off...

No disrespect meant to the young bucks, but the Articles are a pretty rough read on an individual basis, and there are way too many of them. Even when they happen to be written technically well, most Articles seem like press releases. I would cut down on the number of them and lean into the key CIS differentiator here: original content and insight. The contributors who provide some of the best Canes Insight already go on the pod (e.g., Lance Roffers and Steve Kim). Perhaps the youngins can cut their teeth on pod summary, aggregation, and research/data viz (pulling stats and context, building visualizations which enrich recent pod content, e.g.).

Someone mentioned auto-moderation via AI. Not a bad idea; perhaps the agent could flag threads which are similar for merger by a human Maude (rather than have the bot run around erroneously merging dissimilar threads).

Also- maybe you could make a Tears subforum. It would be nice to get all my schadenfreude in one place.

when accessing the website via mobile phone, move the "new posts" up so that you don't have to scroll down the index to find them.

Less articles and/ or threads on the same subject. Maybe your writers can just post their articles under the same thread for that subject to help keep things more organized.

Piggyback on this. The automatic “article becomes new thread” pollutes the board. Normally (not always) these articles are later than the active thread on same topic. Once article goes out (which I understand CIS should do) it pollutes the message board list. People post the same thing in different threads and CIS conversation diverges.

Do articles always need to become new threads?

Add in some more disrespectful emotes. Everything is too PG, some suggestions 🤡, 💩, 💃🏾,🤏🏾,🍤,🖕🏾.
The one with eyes looking outwards and a drop of drool at the edge of the mouth (I think it was :dumb: ) was the best, and would get heavy use in any BALLHAWKU or Calinative thread.

Increase the ability of the site to accept longer duration gifs...I've had some perfect ones for threads and convos that wouldn't load due to "file being too big"
This. Anything over about 7.5mb gives an error. I have to decrease gif resolution to potato quality just to get them to upload.

I don’t want to beat a dead horse here. But at least make the articles read only. Being a message board idc much about derailments. It’s gonna happen. But I get annoyed by the multiple threads on the same thing. If DJ Jacobs flips here, there will be the 2.0 thread, then the thread with his commitment article. Then some thread tied to some interview or behind the scene thing about the recruitment.

I don’t mind the articles. I’m not expecting Pulitzer Prize winning writing on a free message board. But in the heart of what this space is, the messaging between us users should be in one place not three or four different threads. We’ve got the gameday board, the eye in the sky board and the recruiting/nil boards. Make an article board that’s read only and it will reduce a lot of clutter.
