Required Reading for those who doubt S&C importance

What about the guy who already knows Physics, has been working on that specific or similar job at another company for 15 years, but he doens't have a Physics degree he has a degree in electrical engineering from MIT? Also receives glowing recommendations from everyone he's worked with on a personal and professional level.

You'd hire that guy in a second and never look back unless he really fudged up the interview. I'm happy to let Richt decide. His whole life rides on choosing the right coaches to work on his staff. Much like i'd trust you to hire that physics guy that would most work for you. Next time you are hiring someone, why don't you throw up a poll on which candidate to hire and then stick to he result. That is what ya'll are asking Richt to do basically.

LOL, wrong choice with the EE. I'm a EE with a minor in Physics. There are certain requirements as a EE you have to take of physics. They kind of go hand in hand.

I wouldn't make a comparison of a Sociology degree to remotely Kinesiology. Which is what you are trying to do with Swasey.

I know you have to TAKE physics but thats much much different than someone with a degree in Physics. Plenty of people take Calculus yet i'd say less than 1% can do advanced Calculus. I mean I had to pick someone who had the ability to learn Physics. Everyone on the Miss St football team practically has Kinesiology mastered so it isn't like Physics is a good comparison for Strength Coach as it is. Was only piggy backing your analogy.

I think you missed the point. Swasey has no background and no connected background from college. Sociology is not remotely connected to Kinesiology. Using EE and physics is a none starter.

Well you are the one that brought up Physics. You act like learning physics is the same as teaching people how to do bench press and writing down a workout plan on a white board and logging the data. This isn't rocket science or even physics. THE PEOPLE WITH A KINESIOLOGY DEGREE PICKED IT BECAUSE IT IS RIDICULOUSLY EASY...FOR EVERYONE WHO TRIES. Hence half of the Miss St football team will be, for you, more qualified than Swasey to be a S&C Coach.

Man you sound foolish. No background except he was an assistant S&C under the coach everyone fantasizes about in Moffitt, and then was a S&C coach for 15 more years after that in addition to being a position coach. Wow the no background thing sounded dumber than the no degree thing. Kinesiology.. lol.. then ya boy brought up Physics.. then got mad at me for using a physics comparison.. lol good night.

Man why are you so butt hurt? Yes I brought up physics, but nowhere did I compare physics as a comparison to S&C. I used an extreme example then you started going down the comparison of EE to Physics. You missed what I was trying to convey regarding the connection with Swasey and his degree in Sociology. Get it now?

Tommy Moffitt has a degree in Education with a minor in literature and biology... know nothings...
Lets cross him off our list, he has **** for a degree.

Compare his body of work to Swasey and get back to me... smh.

I've been on the Fire Swasey campaign for more than a decade. He's been cashing UM checks for far too long.

Agree with Miami82 and think INCane nailed it with his post earlier.

A number of reasons exist on performance alone to recommend termination. His lack of pedigree doesn't help his cause either, and may help explain partly why he's been so subpar.

Swasey needs to be fired.

Seems like old times. How many years on these boards have we been pushing this. Too many...

Our issue is we recruit undersized guys and try and make them huge. The problem is by the time they adjust to the weight they have left college. These south Florida kids are not BIG10 players so therefore we shouldn't have been trying to run a BIG10 defense. If Nick Saban was our coach he would recruit bigger players and make them bigger but not where they needed 4 years to adjust.

We recruit many of the same players, and we didn't play Big 10 systems in Randy and Cokers days and we still got pushed around.

We still had a terrible November record.

This is a problem that preceeds the Golden era by nearly 7 years.

I didn't say Tommy Moffitt wasn't better than Swasey. In fact that is my point, I showed you a degree in kinesiology doesn't mean ****. I mean I know engineers lack common sense sometimes, but this is just crazy.
I'm sorry your robot brain only allows you to learn about 1 topic in your life, but other people, they can learn more than 1 thing, even if 1 is what their degree is for. I know 2 IT managers who were Physicians before they came to America with no IT degree. Does that mean they can't figure out Windows and how to manage people to complete a task? No.

You think Cochran learned all he knows in a Kinesiology class? No.

Let me repeat for the slow people, or you that seems to only be able to retain 1 skill at time according to how you perceive learning, Swasey has poor results and needs to be fired. Degree or not. He wouldn't be magically great if he was dusted with a kinesiology degree fairy dust.

LOL, man are you butt hurt. Love the ad hominem attacks.

And the point you keep missing over and over, maybe the lack of education or pedigree is why we haven't seen the results that other S&C programs have had. Whatever component that Moffitt has, we all know Swasey doesn't have it.

The fall off in S&C started in 03...

WHats funny is at the beginning of the season we marveled at the savagery of AUburns S&C program only later to watch thm get pushed all over the field all season....OP lists supposedly the #1 S&C guy in the country... Frankly I only want Swasey gone just beccause we need a change of scenery

But sorry nobody can make Gall better than he is, we have guards playing Tackle.... We play true freshman at DT..I think its more of depth and recruiting than anything..LOL At using alabama they bring in more JUCO DT's than anybody and have all savages on the OL... Recroot better on the lines

Please show me where it was every posted about the "savagery of AUs S&C program"......you blatantly just made that up to try to defend the black corch again. It's absurd at this point.

Nutrition is paramount. Golden shaped the OL into a bunch of Charlie Weis bodies, for example.

You guys measure S&C by what you see on the field?

I can almost guarantee you that Miami has beaten teams with stronger players and better S&C staffs since Swasey has been here (Ohio State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida, etc)...just like we've been beaten by teams with weaker or less talented players. (Pitt, Virginia, Duke, etc)

I can also guarantee you that more often than not our players run, lift, jump and measure better at the NFL combine than players from Alabama, LSU, Auburn, etc.

So what gives?

Don't tell me to use the eyeball test either, cause the players on our squad that were alpha enough to get recruited by the the LSU's and Alabamas coming out of high school currently LOOK GREAT.

former players swear by swasay. end of the day, golden had a gameplan. our scheme made them look slow and he bulked them up. i think once they either finished senior year or declared, swaysey prob trimmed then and got them ready for the combine.

I disagree. Our wins against OSU, OU, UF and Nebraska all came in down years for those teams. OSU had lost their coach and a ton of talent, UF and Nebraska both ended their respective seasons under .500. OU didn't have a healthy Bradford.

Every time we have faced a top notch program when they are 100% we have gotten our **** caved in. I can't remember the last time we dominated a top team in either side of the line. We look soft, slow and overweight consistently.

The guys at the combine are outliers. Of course a guy like Flowers with first round talent will measure up, but across the board we are not even close to be where we should be.

I said the following earlier Macho:

Anyone who has been a fan of this program during the good and bad knows one thing with absolute certainty.

When we were good and the third quarter ended, we would hold up four fingers. We meant it because we knew that our guys had one quarter left and we're going to bring it. All the conditioning the team did throughout the year would pay dividends and the other team would look slower while gasping for breath.

Yes, we still do the four fingers and it means jack squat these days. We're more often than not, the team with our hands on our hips, trying to catch our breath all the while continuously looking at the clock.

Yes, it's called strength and conditioning, but the real thing is conditioning. Strength is secondary. Those who point to combine numbers, you don't get it. I could put a group of power lifters out there who would put those numbers to shame, but if I put them on the field they would be gassed in no time.

We used to say teams would come down here and melt in the heat. That's no longer the case, our conditioning has slipped. As it slips, strength becomes less of a factor. In the decade since we were good, approaches to conditioning have changed while we haven't.

Bottomline, Swasey will be exiting the door and whoever replaces him will be better as he's known as one of the worst at his position in any of the power five conferences.

To add to the guy above talking about playing down teams, last we played UF they pushed our *** all over the field. They just had Chris Rix 2.0 at QB to give it away for them.

This is the exact video that was porsted on here that everybody was creaming about ****got..nfortunately it is now blocked... The fact that u think that i would have to make something up to prove a point to you is laughable..oh and please show me a porst where you saw me defened a black coach.. chalk up another internet ****got that goes the race route to try and prove a point

I don't think it is debatable that we need a change at S&C -- and have needed a change there for a long time.

It was glaringly obvious in the 05' bowl against LSU. We were manhandled on both sides of the ball. Its been that way against top teams till now.

Conditioning was important .... but in the glory days, we had future NFL players on the field that played hard bc their back ups were ready take their jobs ... bc they also would play on Sundays
- the last few years we have had a FEW guys that were NFL caliber but cant think of many examples, where we two deep with little drop off

People forget that during the height of the program... watching the 4th quarter was amazing bc the third string was really amazing
